I'm moving to a house where the fastest internet we can get is 3MB DSL. No cable available.

I actually feel lucky to be able to get that as the place I am at now we have to use a cellular hotspot. While the speed has been good, it get's expensive! Being metered sucks!

So, I'm wondering though since 3MB is really slow if it would be beneficial to get two 3MB DSL connections? Then, using load balancing on a firewall to utilize both of them.

I realize that 2 3MB connections will not give the same speed as 1 6MB connection. So, that's why I'm asking I guess.

Then, I would need to know what device to use to load balance. I believe the edgerouter lite can do load balancing, right?

Yup! The Edgerouter Lite even has an easy to follow wizard for exactly that:

You can balance connections using an algorithm but it wont be able to "move" sessions (connections) depending on line congestion. Also, streaming services such as Netflix will probably barely work even if you use a dedicated line.
