Well I have had it with this "server" idea. The system that I had moved into crashed due to a major lightning storm. Yes everything was on a battery backup. Lets see if APC lives up to their guarantee.

Anywho, I want to move the raid set that I currently have setup from this server to another box, one that running smooth for over a year now. The raid card is in good shape, the hdd's look good also, I am just curious if I can move it without having to rebuild everything, basically want to know if doing so I will lose my data.

your thoughts?

when you say "server" i assume you are using a raid controller. if so, moving it to another system will be no problem at all.

if it's onboard, then it might have to be the same chipset.
if so, what motherboard are you moving from and what motherboard are you moving to.
also, which type of raid

providing you have same onboard raid chipset it will work and if u have a raid card it will definatly work

Please keep us posted on the progress/outcome of that situation. :)

got a call back from APC, I have to send the battery backup into them with a list of equipment/pricing that was damaged.

the card that I have is an areca 1880 that I upgraded from the 1210. The card still performed in my sandbox, so I am going to move the hard drives over tonight when I get home.

I was really concerned becasue I just moved 6TB and 3TB of music to this set, and really don't want to lose anything! but if I can move it to another system then all is well :)

What APC unit do you/did you have?
