Last week, MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe, was telling us that it watches where you go to and from the movies if you use its services. This week it is, "I said something completely inaccurate as far as what we are doing,” he said. “We only locate customers when they use the app." In other news, last week, MoviePass removed support from the iOS app that would have allowed MoviePass to track your constantly. All pure coincidence.

MoviePass made the update to the iOS app in consultation with Apple. Previously, the app gave users Apple's three standard privacy options: never track; track when using the app; and always track. Lowe said the app never activated the "track all the time" capability. "We never used it, and it was confusing to have it there," Lowe said.

    We agree, all very confusing.

We talked about getting this the day before the first interview came out. I live a 3 minute walk from a bad ass theatre.

No fucking thank you. It’s not that we’re being tracked. It’s that he sounded smug and slimey about it. I’d rather just watch it at home most of the time anyways.

When you think MoviePass, think Pass.

Liked him better when he was being honest about data collection. Since he now claims the ap doesn't track your every step, probably means that Movie Pass has figured out how to get the same data from a 3rd party ap. So they now get the best of both worlds. Users of the ap falsely believe they aren't tracked. Customers of the collected data are still happy.

I don't really care about them collecting this kind of data.
They would know where I live solely from my billing address.

When you pay for something this cheap, $7.95 for unlimited movies per month, you gotta know there's a catch.

$10/month so you can see one movie a day for that price.

It makes sense for some people. Basically anyone who sees 2 or more movies a month.

The pricing never made sense to me until all the data they’re collecting was revealed.

Someone's legal team started making calls to him. Question is, whose first?

"We only locate customers when they use the app."

Yep, that's why we hate you. Well done.

When the deal is too good to be true, YOU are the product. MoviePass, creditkarma etc.
