More Than 11,000 Bots Live On Facebook Messenger

Facebook is happy to announce that over 11,000 bots have launched on Messenger since the platform launched earlier this year. Anyone else excited about this? Anyone? Hello!?!

Just three months since the launch of Messenger, Facebook on Friday said that more than 11,000 bots have launched on the platform. The social media company also announced several new features for the platform, such as "quick replies," which prompts users to select one of a few specific messages to send, and "persistent menu," which shows users available commands.

Never used Freakbook. What is a bot in relation to this application? Article didn't have any depth. Is it for lonely people to chat with?

I wonder if many of them are part of that "Correct the Record" Hillary campaign, where the Clinton campaign has spent fortunes spreading propaga... err... correcting false statements about Hillary online on various social media, spending 1 million alone on reddit recently to have people copy and paste pro-Hillary replies as if they are regular users, or to try and derail or bury negative news and comments about the candidate.
