My Sony Vaio is running XP Pro and I have it set to turn the monitor off after 20 minutes of inactivty when plugged in or 5 minutes when unplugged. Some times, once the monitor goes off, it will not come back on. I hit keys, move around on the touchpad, and click the mouse buttons, but it does not come back on. I can use the function+sleep keyboard shortcut, the laptop goes to sleep, then wait a second and hit a key and sure enough, it comes back on without problems. I wouldnt think its a faulty monitor, but very randomly, it will turn back on but very distorted, multicolor vertical lines, and never make it fully to the desktop. I have thought maybe the monitor drivers are wrong, but I have the latest from Sony's site. Anyone have any ideas on why it wont come back on?
