Hello everyone this will be my first post here so hopefully I'm not asking a question that has been asked many times before. I did check through the forums already for an answer just hoping the reason I did not find one wasn't due to my lack of sleep.

I plan on building a new pc soon and I was set on a 27 inch monitor. Samsung P2770HD 27.0" to be exact, I saw a few videos of it, well mainly one since youtube has plenty of fake reviews and it seemed great. But then I heard something about bad pixels, I think someone mentioned "drop pixels"? Perhaps I forgot the word already. I was also told they have the same display ratio of a 24 inch so why bother? This caused me to change my monitor to a Asus VW246H 24.0". Would the asus be better or could someone perhaps direct me to a better monitor?

I think the most I would pay is 300ish. I saw a few threads for monitors that were like 800-1000 dollars I would rather not go that high for one

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if your local Costco carries the Samsung P2770HD but, I do see it at my local Costco for $279.99. What's good about purchasing it at your local Costco is the 90 day return policy. I think you are referring to dead pixels. You may receive a model with dead pixels or another model without dead pixels. The Samsung P27770HD has a native resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p) 16:9 aspect ratio. It does have the same native res compared to a 16:9 aspect ratio 24" monitor but, not a 16:10 1920 x 1200 resolution lcd.

If you can spend $56 more, consider the HP ZR24W 24" with 1920x1200 resolution for $365.05 w/free shipping

Well what are you going to mainly use this monitor for?
If you don't need low response time for gaming then I would recommend you to look at some VA panel monitors. For example, I've got a VA LED backlit monitor (EW2420) and it works great. VA panels are known for their ultra-sharpness to details, superior than IPS in how sharp they are. Great for text reading! And they are also known for their extremely rich colors as they have native 3000:1 contrast ratio which exceeds most IPS panels 1000:1 contrast ratio by far. The main difference between IPS and VA is that IPS has slightly more accurate true colors, better viewing angles, and faster response time. However the main advantage VA panels have over IPS is their low price point. You should check out the newer version of my monitor: EW2430. It's got 4 input connectivity ports (dual HDMI, DVI, D-SUB), 4 USB, headphone jack, onboard speakers. Very nicely designed metalic finish look, and very sturdy build. The only thing is I wish it was more adjustable ergonomically (you should check out BL2400PU if that's what you need).

Hope that gives you an alternative
