So upgraded my sons rig and passing along the old parts to my Daughter.

2500K/P8Z68. Its currently running 2 x4 GB of PC3-12800. I have some 2GB sticks of PC3-10700 from another build. I know you can mix/match and it will run at the lower speed. She is not a big gamer, pretty much SIMS so i'm thinking that speed is not the deciding factor but amount of RAM is more important.

So question keep the rig at just the 8GB of 12800 or add 2 more sticks of 2x2 10700 to m give 12 GB total.

I'd add the ram, that way she doesn't need to worry (as much) about closing browser tabs when firing up the sims.

I've always said I'd rather have more slower ram than not enough fast ram and have to hit the cacheing buffer.

I'm building a new rig for my other half who is a web developer. She often has two or three browsers and Photoshop etc open. Even she burns through the 16GB of DDR3 1600 ram. So I have another set of 2x4GB DDR3 1866 HyperX's that I will add in so she'll have 24GB of DDR3 1600.

Should do the trick.
