Hey Guys,
Ive been doing a lot of heavy processing at work on large datasets, I have to upgrade a spare tower we have with more RAM. Its an E5-1620 with quad channel memory and 8 slots total. It currently only have 4x2GB ECC RAM installed, and I want to either double it to 16GB with another set of 4x2GB, or possibly move to 4X4GB to give a total of 24GB.
My question is with the ECC quad channel setup, would it be alright to use the current 4x2GB and then add the 4x4GB setup? or should I stick to the same density? Not so versed on the server/workstation side of things. Thanks!
