Actually Asrock has mobos that accept both DDR3 and DDR4.
 
Whenever I have a system act funny like this and I can't figure it out, I pop in a linux live cd and see how it runs. Some are better for testing than others, but if the things that are missing are suddenly there again--gpus, drives, etc, it may just be a really bad mess of software issues. I don't think this is the case in your situation, but it would help to narrow stuff down a bit for sure if you wanted to figure out what went wrong.
