minidisplay port - dual link question

Hi i have a dell 30" monitor, and just recently got a new gen macbook.

Just wondering, can you only use this adapter for dual monitor, or can use a wireless KB/Mouse with my laptop and use teh dell as my primary while im at home (only display...wouldnt even want the laptop screen open)....and then just disconnect and use it as a lappy when i leave the house.


Is this achievable with a mac? or am i stuck using it as secondary monitor.

You shouldn't have an issue running the Dell 30" as the primary/single display.
 
Shouldn't be an issue, other than that the Macbook isn't designed to be run closed. Best to let it run open to prevent overheating. You can make any display the primary.
 
i definately agree about not clamshelling it (exp with the recent logic board / video card problems. )
 
I dont think that part is out yet. Major annoyance when I bought my aluminum MacBook. Had to sell the MacBook and get the older MBP.
