The MIMO routers and cards, question about them.

If I have a non-MIMO router and have a MIMO pci card, can i still take advantage of the high range it can detect? Mainly all i need is that little extra reach to get to my router (basement) from the upstairs rooms. I know i wont take advantage of the speed gains but just mainly want to get a good connection, not no connection.

I'm pretty sure it will only work the other way around...MIMO router to non-MIMO card.

You want the router or WAP to be MIMO. Just replace your current router with a Pre-N/MIMO one. Preferably one based on Airgo's True-MIMO chipset (Linksys w/SRX, or the Belkin Pre-N model)

You can use an old B or G NIC and still get the distance increase.

ok, i figured if i did it the other way around i wont have the troubles of spreading the signal farther.
