I don't see the point in Microsoft paying people to use Edge. You would think that people that are willing to switch to Edge and use Bing as their default search engine will immediately switch once there is no longer a financial incentive to use it. Unless you already use Edge / Bing then this is a win/win for sure.

The newly rebranded Microsoft Rewards – formerly Bing Rewards, which paid people for using Bing as their search engine (another product Microsoft says is better than a Google product but that very few people actually use) – will now pay you for using Edge, shopping at the Microsoft store, or using Bing. Users of Edge who sign up to Microsoft Rewards, which is currently US-only, are then awarded points simply for using the browser. Microsoft actively monitors whether you’re using Edge for up to 30 hours a month.

Hmmmmm...pay me to use Edge eh? I wonder...should I adjust my habits in Edge...a wink...a wink...a whink....;)

truth is, ive used edge since I installed windows 10, made some minor adjustments to the os to ensure not a whole lot of information is pushed out, (tbh, I don't care if Microsoft sees me watching youporn.com) and ive also been using bing, simply because I honestly in the last year or so, havnt seen much of a difference in the use of google / chrome.... other then tbh, they seem to use more memory then edge, maybe that's my own opinion..... but its been nice to give my mom some gift cards for the stupid things I end up searching for...... and a few movies ive rented from the points ive accumulated, if they wanna continue doing so and give me more for using it, im not complaining.....

I gave it a quick try when I installed Win 10. Didn't see any issues with it, but I normally use Chrome (cross platform for me - I use a Mac at work and Chrome on it - bookmarks synced)

So:
Google data mine me for nothing
OR
Microsoft data mine me for a super piddly amount of return.

Might as well try Edge for a while.

I use Google Rewards on my Android smartphone and make like $10-15 a month (which is credit at the Google Play Market, of course, not actual cash in my hand or bank account which I have to admit) answering surveys based on my travels around my city so, no thanks, Microsoft, 'cause I can't stand Edge and I most certainly will not use Windows 10. ;)

Now, if someone at Microsoft reads this and wants to send me two Surface Books maxed out (one for me, one for the wife) I'll be happy to use Windows 10, Edge, and won't even touch the telemetry BS and I'll even use Cortana too.

THAT is something I'd consider being paid to do, but just using a browser I don't actually like and a search engine that I don't find to be better than Google on an operating system I can't stand? For two maxed out Surface Books I'll be happy to shill. :D

Next up... Edge on Linux.

When that happens perhaps I'll give Edge a go... ok no I won't.

Why I do use Edge that is easy I hate the favorite navigation I perf IE 11 hell even Chrome navigation is better
Half the time the favorite don't display right withal my links or it pitful slow and just as crash porn as IE 11

Never mind I guest that they fix it to make it a lot easy to navigation the fav it wasn't that way in the beta I wonder when that change it

UI and privacy issues aside. Bing is just not good. You get more relevant and higher search results with Google.

Can find more with Google write off the bat.got no use for ping.no typo

Don't know why but I read the title as "Microsoft wants you to pay to use it's edge browser".... ok I take that back, I know exactly why I read the title as that.

It's not so bad, but lack of the ability to run Add ins and our line of business web based software is restricting out use to internet explorer.

Edge and bing are a match made in heaven. A browser that displays pages wrong matched with a search engine that rarely finds anything you search for lol.

Well, I bought Quantum Break using $55 in Bing Rewards gift cards so I am happy. Not sure how this new setup will work though, if I end up with the same end results or not.

When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.

Yodah is a prophet!

Bing is just being joined with Microsoft instead of one point you get 10 points instead not sure what the gift card incentives will be like they keep getting slimmer and slimmer due to the abuse of the system.

I have used the bing reward program for years now. I have probably bought about 10 games or DLC packs with the point so I have found it useful. I am sitting on about $15 right now. I personally already use edge without trouble so will take advantage of this program to earn money even faster

I honestly like edge. The very moment they have adblock for all and a few other extensions out for it, i'll jump on it in a heartbeat

Personally I don't use adblock software, but I thought the anniversary update added extensions to edge which in turn brought adblocking.

Exactly that. It's a good browser really... I'm just addicted to noscript (adblock too, but to a lesser degree) on firefox, and so I stick with that.

I went and looked into the new rewards system and it is an absolute joke. If they want to get people using the browser/bing against their preference they need to bring back the BCB. For $50-$250 a month, yeah I'll use your stuff. For single-digit dollars a month and a lot of required usage just to get that? Fuck that noise.
