    Yes! New 'features'! :)

I wonder which one will break the most systems this time? MSFT hasn't had that great of luck with patches the past year or so... Hopefully, this goes smooth.

Thankfully they are all non security updates which most of them are just to "resolve issues in windows".

  4. Curious...Some of the KB articles do not exist

One list CMITrust.dll which is used by the installer to resolve a copy issue...sometimes this dll is replaced by malacious trojans.

To paraphrase the guy from the old Dunkin Donuts commercials, "Time to break the business applications."

The real problem is trying to balance quick and fully tested. If they spent 8 months testing everything that would be great, but then people would complain about waiting for patches. So as a result they have to quickly push them out the door and cross their fingers that it doesn't break much.

I'm not surprised by this any more but why not post the odds on these updates actually work and not mess with your computer ;)

Yup. And limited resources when it comes to testing. Windows runs on a ton of devices. Desktops? Which configuration? What chipset? What CPU? What GPU? What memory? etc.etc.etc., it can for a ton of different things. Maybe one configuration causes issues where the others don't. Hard to test everything before pushing one out.

Plus, Google waits 2 months (?) before releasing a vulnerability to the public. That's not a long time. So, from initial finding to creating, testing and releasing a patch for a fix that may or may not be simple is pretty quick.

Their luck just hasn't been great lately. Pulled a few back due to some issues.

This is why Imma not turn on my Windows PC until this weekend and just use my Linux Mint netbook or my Nintendo DSi (like I am right now) for surfing the web and stuff.

I don't think there is a patch tuesday any more. My damn machine wants to restart every 2-3 days from patches installed.

It's even worse on my corporate that gets pushes from SCCM.

Woah, what timing. I loaded [H] for the first time today (it's been a long day,) scrolled down to this article, paused to read it, and the "Software changes are required by your IT department" popup appeared, letting me know that IT is ready to push these to my machine!

    Creepy!

I wish they would take the time to put the actual patch description in windows update. "Install this update to resolve issues in Windows" doesn't tell me squat. Having to click on the 'more information' link for every patch is a bit ridiculous - especially for the bazillion patches they've released lately.

Just installed a bunch but they were all listed under optional. Normally only allow critical and recommended.
