Microsoft Increases Windows Store Device Limit from 10 to 2,000

Microsoft now lets you install Windows Store apps on a lot more devices: when Windows 10 originally launched, users were limited to 10 devices per account, but that number has now been raised to 2,000. You can check to see if your account has been increased at this link.

If you're wondering how many devices you have signed into the Windows Store, you can head to the Microsoft Account website to check. You will now see the limit has increased from 10 to 2,000 devices per account, which should mean most people no longer have to worry about the device limit, especially if you're someone who has more than ten devices signed into your account.
 
I can see some thinking 10 is a bit low, but 2000?

Unless everything in your house starts becoming a Windows device who'd need more than 16?

Maybe we'll see Windows embedded into your refrigerator and washing machine....

It's less about having that many devices at one time and moreso about being able to purchase an app once and being able to install it on all your new devices in the future.

I haven't bought anything from the Windows Store, so I don't know.

In Office 365, you get 5 activations. You can remove them from devices you no longer own/use. Apple does something similar with your Apple ID and all it's App Store purchases - 10 devices, you can remove old devices to free up activation slots.

Are you saying with MS Store - you can't deactivate old devices?

Not sure how its a huge move, but on the bright side nobody's going to complain about a store that doesn't even really exist.
 
So now my limit is 2000 devices that I still won't use the Microsoft Store on. Thanks MS for the upgrade!

Why would they stop? When people see a piece of shit, like the windows store, their natural inclination is to warn others, so that they don't step into the piece of shit.

Large businesses. Not really cost effective if the same app has to be purchased and managed in groups of 10 if a company has substantially more than 10 employees that use the same app(s).
 
It's basically unlimited. They just chose a large number and went with it. How many years is a 'lifetime' on [H]? 25 years? Same kind of thing.
