I got a new 16gb Moto x pure off Amazon warehouse deals for $294 in today. Phone was listed as very good, said no damage to the device in the description but the box was supposedly damaged. Got the phone in today and the phone looks new, not a scratch on it anywhere and the box had some random dark spots on it.

I got a unicorn beetle heavy duty case but forgot to get a SD card.

I'm looking to get a SD card but have no clue what to look for. Last time I bought a micro SD card they were listed as class 2 thru 6 lol.

I don't save movies or music to my phone I stream all that stuff. Basically I need something to hold pictures and videos which I take a good bit of now since this camera is actually pretty good.

Long story short I don't know if I should go 32gb or 64gb, what actual SD card for good performance and if I should use it as portable storage or extended storage since that is a option in Android now.

Feel free to chime in here with your opinions, I'll greatly appreciate it. I don't really have a budget for the SD card, but I'd rather not buy something super huge that I'll never really utilize the capacity of.

I have a normal (non +) version of the Samsung 64GB EVO in mine. It works, fine as well.
Personally, I like having as much space as possible as I'm one of those people that carries my entire MP3 collection and a 15-year digital photo collection with me all of the time.

I may have just gotten super unlucky, but I ordered a 64 GB Samsung EVO with my MXPE and found that it didn't work well -- music skipped frequently, for example. Put in a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB I've been using in other devices for years (and is currently sold for less than the EVO) and have been in good shape using that.

That card wont allow 4k video recording on the S7, just FYI you need a UHS-1 U3 class card at minimum.

Hmm.. Well maybe I'll return it. My existing 32gb lexar is faster, just less capacity

Can you suggest a card for that purpose?

Question: on the Samsung GS7 or LG G5 4k recording issue. Does Samsung or LG's camera app even have direct SD card storage? Cause I've been hearing that their are not making the microSD single storage capability thingy that came with Marshmallow.

And where to get microSD on the cheap, even cheaper than Amazon? Microcenter often has a sale on their own branded microSD cards. Class 10 64GB cards are like $12. And 128GB are like $30.

    Pretty much any U3 card.
    How big?

For 64GB the PNY Turbo is probably the current cheapest at $25: http://www.amazon.com/PNY-Turbo-Performance-MicroSDXC-P-SDUX64U390G-GE/dp/B00W77C1QU

The Samsung Pro Plus is the top dog and the Sandisk Extreme Pro is close behind it, but they are double+ the cost at $70 and $56 respectively

The only 128GB U3 card i can even find on Amazon is here: Amazon.com: Netac Micro SD Cards 128GB SDXC UHS-I Flash Memory Card with Adapter: Computers & Accessories
Only 1 review, and really cheap in comparison, so buy at your own risk, may be worth it though to buy and test for how much it costs, and just return it if it's not up to par.

Your current Lexar is a U3 card, which is the fastest UHS-I class.

With that chart the evo+ is just behind being uhs 3 rated. I'll probably end up keeping and using it. Honestly I don't know why I would record any 4k video.

I don't know why I didn't think of the pny turbo drive. I got a big USB 3.0 flash drive from microcenter if that brand and it works great. Thanks for the link, I'm probably gonna grab that 64gb card

There is no UHS 3, only UHS 1 and 2, and U1 and U3 subclasses, with the Samsung Evo Plus being UHS1 U1

    Just clarifying.

On the Pure, you can always record the higher-resolution video directly to the internal memory and then move it over to the SDCard as needed. At least assuming you have some space left.
For the 16GB model...yeah, not so much. For the 32 and 64, that's feasible.

Been there, done this. The problem with the Moto X Pure 16GB is there is damn little memory left after the factory load-out. Right around 7GB is all mine had.

The other problem is dev's control where their programs load. Yes, you can move some programs to the SC, but whenever an update comes it will reload to the internal memory and you'll have to move it again.

You can upgrade to MM and set the SD card to format as internal memory, but even that isn't perfect. The same app updating issue occurs. You have to move them again manually after each update.

I found the 16G phone totally unworkable, and returned it for a 32G phone. If there was a 32G version, I would have gone for that. At the time, there wasn't. There is now though.

As for the question at hand, I believe i used this Sandisk and it works great:
