Micro Center Ryzen 2700X $159 plus $30 off motherboard

This makes it a tough call getting this or the 3600 for $30 more at $189. If only gaming I'd probably get the 3600. Multi-use, this is a great deal!

Also, I see they increased the price of the 3900X to $549. Boooo!

I think the improvements are so much better on the 3xxx vs 2xxx I'd take 3600 over 2700...

Edit: One other thing to consider:

2700: Gets choice of either BL3 or "The Outer Worlds" + 3 months XBox Gamepass for PC
3600: 3 months XBox Gamepass for PC

3700x is the same as 3600, but 3800x gets both, hm.

Dang I be lucky to get 140 for my one year old 320 dollar cpu....but I'm glad we can upgrade still

If anyone buys one and wants to sell their BL3 code, PM me.

I already have a 1700 and a 2700x, I don't know that the 3800x is (for my uses, mainly games) worth the 10% perf boost over 2700x. I know that my 2700x has not had a real workout outside of benchmarks since I got it. Games just don't seem to push hard enough.

Set OBS to CPU render game captures.

I needed to up my graphics quality for the cartoon Blackout tank mode and decided to take some strain off the GPU for giggles.

Quality was better than GPU rendering, framerate was fine.

I'm just making up reasons why I need a Ryzen 8core at this point.

Just beating on hardware out of curiosity.

2700x over 3600 for gamers since next gen consoles from both Sony and Microsoft will be 8 core 8 thread Ryzens and triple A games will start having their engines optimized for that hardware.

One can hope that is the cattle prod needed to really get multithreading going in games, yes.

Games will not ignore 4-core low spec for a while.
It'd be like next consoles packing 1080tis and declaring all gaming gpus must have 11gb of vram or kick rocks.

$150 2700x is just a good all around base level of mid tier performance.

$100 2600 is a good low end option.

There will still be plenty of kids with i3s and Ryzen 1400s playing games in 2021 on hand me down garbage boxes.
