Thats pretty shitty. While Ill admit I am boycotting the game as this seems like another scheme, just like recently closed Razor store, I dont think its fair to verbally punish a developer, especially a practically indie one for accepting good money. shitting on deep silver and the 4a guys for taking cash just means I gotta wait that much longer for a stalker or dead island sequel.

I am not happy with their decision to go Epic only, and have no intention of ever buying anything through Epic's storefront, but review bombing is just plain wrong. It further reduces the already limited value of those reviews.
The reviews are supposed to be for customers to share, in good faith, their own experience with a game, not complain about the storefront exclusivity deal. That is what we have forums for.

The Razer store was a bad idea from the get go. At least Epic has the money and clout to make this work, as long as they understand its a long burn thing and won't be a quick return on their investment.

Where do you get games that are usually $69? Also nice. Games are usually $60 or less, especially less cause I never buy games at full price.

As of right now Metro Exodus for PC has a user score of 5.8. PS4 version has a 6.0 and the Xbone version has a 5.7. I can understand bombing the PC version but the PS4 and Xbone? I'm starting to think 4A Games is just pushing the blame onto upset PC games.
    HAHAHAHA, oh wait you're serious?
Yea the forums where 0.000001% of consumers actually go visit. I'm sure their voice will be heard. If you aren't happy for whatever reason then giving it a bad review is reason enough.

Honestly, my downloads from Steam are about 8 times faster than typical sequential read speeds from DVD-ROM drives ever were.

I would have no interest in a physical copy today.

I think the people doing the bombing are just angry because they hear the game is amazing and want to play it but have some weird fetish against installing another gaming client

Yawn. Status quo, change, upheaval. Rinse, repeat.

It's not quite that simple, but that's certainly how it feels most of the time.

Gamers cry and whine about every problem they encounter in a game. And those issues can be an issue for you too, it might not be, but seeing that the game has issues, is much more useful than a paid review praising the game, and glossing over it' flaws.
If the game was flawless gamers couldn't whine about anything could they?

I've made the mistake of buying ace combat 7 without looking at user reviews. I read multiple reviews, even heard some "personalities" take on it, none cared to mention that it can't be played with a stick, despite being a flying game and all. And that the default controls can't be redefined. Had I known that I'd have given the game a wide berth. Every user review points that issue out first. So which one is more useful?

They are demonstrating the opposite and that theyre too impatient to build gradually and build positive mindshare without doing stupid, polarizing shit like sneaking around paying bribes to block games from being sold on Steam. They seem to want to take over the market overnight. Doesn't work that way.

As for having the money, Fortnite is a house of cards, and will only print money as long as little kids buying dances and costumes haven't moved on to the next shiny -- example Apex Legends is already making massive inroads siphoning off their userbase.

It is nothing like Stalker. No way no how. Stalker is not a corridor shooter for starters.

This review bomb is maximum entitlement.
They're allowed to do this (shifting product from steam to Epic) and it sucked but what is the love affair with steam?
It's a better platform but not to the degree where I pledge loyalty.

Sure it is. I have been watching the gameplay. Its completely on rails. Corridor shooter does not mean it has to be in a corridor, just that you are led from place to place like you were in one. That works outside just fine.

There are entire areas you don’t have to go to if you don’t want to. Multiple side quests you can ignore.

It’s not Skyrim, but you are not correct in your judgment.

"Influencers" are also bought and paid for.

The only person I have any faith in is Jim Sterling because he is entirely reliant on patreon, doesn't monetise his videos and is not shy about venting his scorn of AAA publishers.

I'll never understand why these are supposed to be some insurmountable problems. Sure it would be nice to have stick support and rebindable controls.
But their absence in no way makes the game impossible to enjoy - I've never played an AC game before and had so much fun with 7 I went out of my way to emulate 4, 5 and 0.

Sure I am. Corridors attached to the main corridor do not an open game make. ;)

In Stalker you are revived and remember almost nothing. You have a PDA with the only message being "Kill Strelok". That's it, go play the game any way you want.

Sure you can fly without a joystick but nobody expected this to be the case, so it's highly disappointing. I for one haven't played a minute since I purchased the game, a waste of money that was.
As for re-binding controls, that's a standard on PC. It is expected. Sure you can ignore standards but it doesn't go well with core players.

Devs and publishers try to get away with more and more heinous things, and they try to blame their failure on gamers.
What is rock bottom then? I think releasing a game without bindable controls on PC is quite close to that, even if the game is still playable.
I mean you can drive a car on 4 space savers, but you'd be mad if that is how it was delivered from factory.

For some it might be loyalty or just convenience of one launcher and for others it is the principle of the exclusive deal with epic store and then with metro it being down two weeks before launch. Last minute baloney.

How is it competition? At least with Steam there are now code/key sellers online that offer actual price competition. With Epic's monopoly, the devs/publishers and Epic, control the price of the game far more. I can see why that might be appealing. It does nothing for me as a customer. Even EA Origin and Ubisoft/Uplay allow other stores to sell their games via codes or boxed copies and thus some price competition. Ubisoft even still sold on Steam until the Division2 next month. That is clearly a marketing test to see how many people buy there vs Steam. How much more will they make with the lower comission rate on Epic. Except that it does not benefit me at all as a customer to buy Div2 on Epic. Steam at least offerred their community services like 2 hour refund period, forums, reviews, screen shot sharing with friends etc.. I still have to use Uplay no matter what and even the Uplay launcher is better than Epic's software right now. I can also buy the game cheaper than it would be on Steam or Epic or Uplay via 3rd party sellers.

I get why some devs, especially indie ones would sell out to Epic with exclusives but one year? Clearly they were paid money for exclusive status, which is only fair but that screws me the customer over. Two single player games that are now are Epic only and I lose out on DRM free options (Rebel Galaxy Outlaw and Genesis Alpha One). Satisfactory is MP/SP and might get me to buy on Epic but probably not, because of this nonsense of 1 year exclusives and the shitty way they've pulled this stunt with Metro Exodus.

I'm tired of hearing devs say its good for the industry while refusing to admit they got paid off, bribed to go exclusive. Thats their choice but they don't get to tell me its good for me as a customer in the short or medium term because it is clearly NOT. But keep talking about the long term for financially healthier devs (that may fold for other reasons) while refusing to acknowledge the obvious pay off. Just be honest about it, I don't even want to know the actual numbers. Not my business but don't piss on my head and then tell me its raining as I'm now stuck buying your game on one store where the price is controlled far more and so is any criticism aka no reviews or tech support from fellow gamers.Everyone will just go to reddit and other forums and devs will still bitch about the whiny gamers there anyway. All while denying that Steam offers them a lot of things that help as much as they can hurt.

For pete's sake the gaming industry clearly complained to the hardware makers when free game codes with video cards, cpus, and ssd's were being sold on ebay undercutting their new game prices. I'm sure hardware makers didn't like it that much but it still helps move their overpriced hardware at times. Now we have onerous systems to activate those free games including making sure you have that type of video card installed in your system.

Reminds me of Dawn of War 3 in 2017. An rts game, with clear pretentions of being a e-sport with no re-bindable keys. Sort of the cherry on top of that problem fest of a game.

Is it just me or the PC gaming community is going worst and worst by the years... Nowadays if the game doesn't do 150fps is a crap port, isntn on steam , people mad..

I mean it's a single player game, you don't need any mp integration and for most of its life Steam didn't get you a refund for games that pretty new..

Back in the days people hated Steam...

Unfortunately I think this will be the case too, it's not greedy publishers or developers or Ngreedia who will kill it first but the community itself for its entitlement issue. That's what I predict anyway, as this kind of behavior continues, more and more developers will opt for straight console focus and as that continue to be the norm the toxic PC gaming community will only ramp up and accelerate the damage already inflicted. The worst is the people only thinks they are doing the good fight but is totally blind to what damage it also does as they damage the relationship developers have for the PC gaming scene.

This is not competition. Epic paying deepsilver so they take the game off steam is not competition, it's the definition of anti competition.

Yeah, it's them ruining gaming, not the publishers who pull more and more anti consumer shit, and who release games in ever worse states.

Why is it that only a few games get review bombed? If the problem was actually the community every game would be review bombed not just a select few.

I admit that during the week of the announcement I was pretty pissed. I didn't do any review bombing because that has nothing to do with the game itself. For a few days I considered waiting till fall when it comes back to steam and I even commented on some threads here as such. Then I thought more about how this is a series I love and have anxiously been wanting more of for the last 2-3 years. It's also one of many games coming out in 2018-2019 that I upgraded my rig for. After all those considerations I decided screw it, I don't care who's carrying the game, and went ahead and bought it Saturday morning. Critique the game, not the distribution.

Over twenty hours of play later and I still don't care who carries it. Not saying the game is perfect but honestly few are at release. Heck, I'm still a little grumpy at how many updates for KCD were put out over a year that broke my game saves. I don't consider Exodus a train wreck either and TBH the voice acting was never that great. There are already many threads out there comparing the redux to originals for that and visuals. It's an ongoing thing. For the most part it sounds like all the original actors are back.

I'm not thrilled with Epic's lackluster support for a couple of simple questions I tried to ask them but then someone reminded me in another thread that we PC users, especially those that do their own builds, are usually more adept at finding our own solutions. These whiners that're review bombing never seemed to grasp that or simply never grew beyond having others do things for them. For all those doing this behavior I recommend unplug their rigs, put them in a closet along with all other unresolved childhood issues, whip a out gameboy, and go on with their lives. They'll be much happier for it.

One concern I have for Metro Exodus on Epic is the lack of Linux support. As of right now there's no Linux client for Epic's client and even Fortnite isn't ported to Linux. Wine doesn't work either for Fortnite. So supporting Epic's game store isn't supporting Linux.

I played the game. Not really impressed by its linearity in playability. You have to only go this direction, perform this specific action , or do what is required. Its like a puzzle game figuring out the correct sequences. The graphics are nice, the detail is nice but the shooting function is not smooth and the playability is not fun after awhile.. I played for 10-15 mins closed it down. Loaded it back up several times only to quit playing after I completed a level in 10 minutes.
Its not gonna survive long on my playlist...

    Metacritic scores:

    PS4 - 79
    Xbox - 81
    PC - 84

I think that the PC "critic" score is going to be inflated a bit by lameos giving it a higher score than it deserves because they want to 'stick it to' what they perceive to be 'Steam fanboys' and critics of Epic.
