I'm thinking of getting MGS4, but haven't played any games in the series since the first one. Has anyone watched the Metal Gear Saga DVD and does it give enough of a recap to enjoy MGS4? I see the dvd is being given away with the game at Best Buy (Canada) today, so if they have any left I might pick it up.

The DVD is pretty short, but it gives you a decent idea of the MGS world.

I didn't see any mention of that DVD in the Best buy ad and I was not given one when I bought my bundle today.

Lots of stores (BB,CC, Gamestop, Frys) sold $5 preorders which included a DVD. May not have been the 2.0 version though.

If you can't fine the DVD, then an alternative is watching the Gametrailers video recaps of the MG storyline:

The link above is part 1. There are six parts, which is displayed on the right side. Part six is a VERY condense version of the entire storyline, which will only benefit those who have played the most of the games. If you are new to the series, watching the first five parts should bring you up to speed.

Thanks, I watched all of that last night and now I feel ready to play. The store didn't have any of the Saga DVDs left unfortunately.
