Menat Is Street Fighter V's Newest Character

Fortune-teller-turned-fighter Menat has been added to Street Fighter V’s roster: revealed this morning during the Hong Kong Esports Festival, she’ll be available to play on Aug. 29. Fans are comparing the Egyptian character to Rose from the Alpha/Zero series, being that she can reflect projectiles and summon them to surround her.

she's not even speaking egyptian or arabic. For that alone it's pandering. We now have Cleopatra Sex Kitten for a fighter.

It's only pandering when you try to market to evil "minorities" that are ruining everything ever.

Marketing to horny, under-socialised boys and man-children is just marketing.
 
She looks like she could be a lot of fun to play and like she might have a pretty high skill ceiling. Not overly fond of SFV itself, but I'll give them credit for the last few DLC characters they have all been pretty good.
 
Well, hard to go wrong when you kinda lift characters from other fighting series *cough cough* Menat is Viola from SC5 *cough cough*

in a way most everyone who is making a fighting game is stealing something from street fighter, it's okay if Capcom takes a thing or two from someone else :)

News Flash!!! Tons of people all over the place like all kinds of things you don't. I play quite a bit of SFV actually. It's not bad. In a lot of ways like it better than USFIV. I do have my eye on the new KOF game though. Fighting games in general are still in full rotation in my house. Especially after a bit of alcohol with friends.

Sheeeit, I picked up SFV a few days ago. I'll never put down the fighting games. (Legrand68, Izucrazy?!?! lol) My son and I love to beat each other up in Tekken 7 and talk smack. I've got Mortal Combat on deck as well. I must have at least three or more current games from each genre on hand in my house. We play it all. Long live fighting games!

Nice! Yeah, two of my daughters play SFV and DOA with me. I haven't picked up any others recently just due to not having much time, but definitely plan to grab more. I still even play International Karate under C64 emulation. :D (and of course Last Blade 2, Samurai Showdown IV, and a few other classics...)

As far as this new character goes, she appears to play a bit like Rose, which is kinda cool. Rose takes a bit of getting used to in the older games, but can be quite effective. Honestly, I think I would have just preferred Rose, but Menat doesn't look too bad. Kind of generic maybe with an Egypt skin and dance slapped on top, but still fairly decent it appears.

C64 emulation! Woooo, you are hardcore! Gotta one up ya and have my youngest (20mo, and 6yo) play some learning games on a TI 99/4a emulator if such a thing exists, like dad used to. lmao! I think I'll really try to find that! I also still pull out MAME64 to play SSFII all the editions, especially the classic version with the nifty bugs in it for shadow throwing and such.
