Memory fried a memory slot, will the motherboard still work ? ?

Well it looks like the motherboard is totally dead ! YEY!
I tried my dads Athlon 1.2, kingston pc2700 ram and a crappy 4 year old video card. The computer can be turned on but it does not post ! The fans spin and the leds go on but it never beeps. I restarted the bios/cmos and still no luck. So is this time to give up ?

Any ideas that I might try out while I still have this setup ?

I'd try desoldering the broken ram connector in the hope that there's a short in the melted connector that's causing the problem.

Otherwise about all you can do is use it for target practice.
