I feel this deserves it's own thread.

I feel Mega Man was taken out back and shot a while back, from Capcom's allergic reaction to making new Mega Man games(and of course the cancellation of like 4 MM games and Kenji Inafune quiting, kinda depresses things I guess...), didn't think we would see anything MM anytime soon.

Now don't get me wrong. This IS a fan game. Capcom is just publishing/releasing this game officially, so no, they didn't really make it. I'm just saying that because I don't really except more MM after this. It's obvious Capcom doesn't know what to do with MM...(maybe? free give aways?)... anyway.....

Thats actually an old build from last year.
The game has changed quite a bit, with Capcom's help and the music is probably different too.
I guess Capcom deserves a little credit, they helped finish the game. It was only a 5 level demo when they picked it up. I read this earlier, interesting article about the development. Good read.

I am wondeing how long until someone dumps this onto a real ROM and puts it in a cart. i would buy it.
 
I must be the only one who not only enjoyed Megaman X: Command Mission, but played Network Transmission and enjoyed it. I've bought most of the Mega man games over the years.
 
My favorite is Megaman spin-off is Megaman Zero for the GBA. So many awesome side scrolling action games during the GBA era. Metroid Fusion was another I loved... but that's OT. :)
 
I could see mega man being reborn in some kind of WiiU game.

LOL - I think I lost just interest. 1 was great, 2 was passable but easy. By 3 and 4 they were wearing a little thin. Plus, some of the enemies had full-on jumped the shark by #4. Pharaoh Man? Toad Man?
I'm sure the SNES versions were dandy, but it's tough to go back after facing a mighty foe like Dust Man.

I'll accept the crucifixion by Mega Man fans, but it's kind of like Sonic to me. It's a tough sell when you've burned someone out.

Same here. They did some cool things like charging the laser and such, but overall, I thought the best bosses were in Megaman 1.
 
2 is arguably the best one, but I'm more partial to 3.
The slide attack just adds so much more, going back to 2 with no slide feels weird.
MM3 is my fav MM. MM2 has the best music, however. (3 is VERY close)

Pretty much the way I feel. I played the hell out of 2 and loved it. Then 3 came out and it was pretty damn cool, felt like an upgrade and was a blast. For some reason I remember the levels a little more on that one. The original was the hardest in my opinion and yes, the music in 2 kicked ass. I forget what 4 was like and I skipped 5. Then never really played much of the SNES versions. So my fondest memories were of 2 & 3 as well.

2 was the best as well I think. 4 was my second favorite; they added the feature of being able to charge up your main weapon.

Then never played Megaman until part 9 on Xbox. The whole revisit back to the original look (box and all) really sold me. I'm so pumped for this version. Heck I would have paid for it!

I find nothing wrong with going back to 8 bit graphics and music. I'd just prefer to the people who make it remove the bad parts about 8 bit, such as the disappearing sprites when too many objects are on the screen.

The disappearing graphics have nothing to do with this game being 8 bit. It has to do with the specific hardware limitations of the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was a developer trick implemented for more sprites to be possible on screen all at once.

What I meant was that you could do away with those issues. Keep it 8 bit, but I don't want an old NES experience down to its limitations.

I would have posted earlier, but damn was today a busy day.
Anyone try it out yet? I wont be downloading till later today.
 
Is there an installer or anything like that, or is it just a folder you can place anywhere?

The zip has 2 files, a README.txt and the exe.
The exe is self-contained (though it then does write a keyconfig.txt, so you'd probably want to leave it within a folder somewhere).

No install required so it's certainly work or non-admin computer friendly. :)
 
I read that you can change the controls or activate a controller by pressing F2 in the pause menu. Haven't verified that yet...
Thanks for the links! I was trying to find one that wasn't dead, Capcom is getting hammered!
