First to use TSMC N4 process
First ARMv9 SOC
First LPDDR5X Large System Cache
First Mali G710

This should do well against the A15
We’ll see if MediaTek can do better at their API’s and vendor support which has hampered them in the past.
Gotta congratulate MediaTek on reentering the big leagues. I am curious about the benchmarking, though, since the Genshin Impact test wasn't all the impressive when you think about it: the Dimensity 9000 has a bunch of theoretical advantages over the A15 (denser process, LPDDR5X, etc.), but it only really trades blows. So it's great for Android users, but won't make an iPhone 13 buyer regret their decision.

This does make me wonder, though: what the hell is Qualcomm doing? It's not only lazy in developing PC and smartwatch chips, it's losing ground to MediaTek in phone chips, too. It's a bit like Google with Android as of late: it doesn't know how to support anything that isn't a phone, and even that is a bit shaky.

The Mali GPU architecture is not great…. Apples GPU’s are quite advanced at this point. For gaming Apple is going to hold the crown for a while.
The greatest thing NVidia could do for ARM is kill Mali.

Since AMD went with Exynos, unless Nvidia acquires ARM I think they'll eventually partner with MediaTek as their GPU solution. The mobile market is too big to ignore.

What's wrong with Mali that needs fixing?
Features, Performance, Documentation, and Drivers are all lacking. I mean for a stock option it isn’t the worst but ARM has not put much into the Mali stuff in the past few years and it shows. It’s why Mediatek, Samsung, and Apple have all looked to alternatives for its top end platforms.

The ARM CPU cores are awesome but the Mali stuff drags them backwards in comparison.

It says a lot about Apple's dominance when we're supposed to get excited that the nearest competitor is now only one generation behind.
