Hello guys.

I am currently trying to get one of my computers to be a media server for my local network (stream music/videos to other computers on my network). I know you can do this with VLC, but I can only do that manually from the host computer (I want to be able to control everything from the receiving computers) and I can't figure out VLC's VLM Video on Demand thing

Most google results include installing a new OS (I want to keep my OS) or stream only music. Any suggestions?

Specs for host computer:
Windows 2000 Professional
Pentium 3 933mhz
128mb ram (ram too low for Orb. :( )

You'll want a UPnP A/V server, such as Simple Center. Or, use Media Sharing in Windows Media Player.

Thanks for the response, JTY. Turns out I was making this too difficult. All I had to do was make my media directory on my host computer be a shared network drive. Now I can access all the files on that computer with my laptop through my local network and play every file in there without a problem.

I've never heard of UPnP media streaming stuff, but after researching, I'll definitely keep an eye on it.
