MCE 2k4 and live tv question.

Ok,
here's my setup.
dell sc420
x300
sb like 24 bit
pvr 150
mce remote
MCE 2k4 (haven't renewed msdn yet to get 2k5)

here's my question:
After viewing live TV, I want to know if there is any way to close the live TV without closing the front end. The reason why I want this is because I dont want the pc to be constantly recording shows while I'm not actually watching anything. (to cut back on wear and tear on the hdd) obviously the pause and stop button will still keep recording. Currently I just close the front end and start it up next time I wanna watch TV. any input would be greatly appreciated.

nope, there's no way. it's definitely an extreme frustration point for us MCE users, and was NOT fixed for 2005 MCE

what i do, is just start up & stop a recorded TV show (ora video), which stops LiveTV entirely
 
shouldn't you be able to switch to radio and it will stop recording tv? you could then close the radio.
