Maybe not Threadworthy, but still a Great Deal. Come Inside.

Just watching a YouTube video from PCPerspective with JJ Guerrero from Asus. They're putting a 3770 through the paces with an Asus Z77 board. The auto-tuning tools tweak both the multiplier and the BCLK and at one point (around 27:40), they show the RAM operating at just under 2GHz. JJ recommends 2133 or 2400 for this platform. This seems contradictory to Acer_Sheep's comment above and some other posts here on the [H].

I'm not trying to call anyone out. I'm just trying to get my arms around today's overclocking landscape. Am I missing something here? Maybe "real" overclockers wouldn't be using these tools and the more expensive RAM isn't needed for manual overclocking. I don't know...

OP: Glad you're enjoying your RAM. Don't sweat it if someone doesn't agree with your purchase. I personally wouldn't have made the choice you made, but by God, you earned your money and bought what you wanted. Good for you! :)

Thanks,
E
Your video is not any how contradicting what I said.

All I have to say after reading this thread is

God DAMN Bruce, you are one fine specimen of a fucking douche clown.

He tryed showing off his epeen and got pissed when people told him it was pointless. Now hes butt hurt and calling one of the most helpful people on the forums names and trying to defame him for no reason. Tsumi goes out of his way to help people on this forum, and I'd trust his advice over most.

Dudes obviously got less brains then money. Not just a tool, the whole fuckin bag.

Kind of like Intel's Extreme CPU's, the major cost hardly made it worth it (although now the incentive is extra cores).
No, wer are back to the only difference betweent the extreme editions and the highest non-extreme parts being some extra cache and a slightly higher multiplier.

You said this: Sometimes I think the 2133 or 2400 RAMs, extreme overclocking memory and so on, are really just marketing moves because they have no real use.

JJ from Asus says otherwise, recommending 2133 rate RAM or 2400 for people who are very adept at overclocking.

I can see why new people don’t stick around at this forum, a handful of you don’t have jobs, sit around all day here and here, talking tech, about products that are out of your reach because you sit around here all day. I don’t think $120 is too much for RAM, if your budget only allows for $20 I guess I am sorry, I thought it was a good deal. I don’t have to defend my choices in tech or my income, its mine and I made it, period.

So you automatically assume people who choose not to waste money on overpriced ram do so because they can't afford it? For everyone's sake, let's hope you're a new guy that doesn't stick around.

Kyle doesn’t have to ban me, I am banning myself. Sorry for the bad behavior, its only my second build, was just trying to learn something and make this pc as nice as I could, I took the criticism too personal and for that I won’t return, that will make Tsumi happy, stay cool man.

+1 this be true.

But the occasional person likes the e-peen and big numbers, and MeanBruce here is one of them ;)

Future generations will see this thread and witness what happens when a winky icon fails to be recognized as a winky icon, and instead is seen as a smiley face. One side made what was thought to be a playful gesture, and the other side became enraged that they were the victim of some inside joke leading to a pun on their behalf.

In military terms, this is what we call a "senseless war" that should never have happened, nor needed to.

I ask the [H]ardCouncil to reconsider a change in icons. Preferably more sensible to an elders eyes.

Did you even happen to read the thread?

If you did and got that out of the thread, your by far the dumbest shit ever to be able to learn to read. I'll summarize for you:

Bruce: "guys I got the coolest memory ever for my computer!"

Peanut gallery, (ie: hard ocp trolls): "you got ripped off man, your an idiot!"

Bruce: "why this is kickass memory!"

Peanut gallery: "you can get a lot better for less money, your a moron!"

Bruce: "I got the memory I wanted for a good price and its kickass memory!"

Peanut gallery: "your a complete idiot, you should have bought XXX memory or XXX memory, here are 20 benchmarks saying you don't need your kickass memory"

Bruce: " I don't care, this memory has these cool features"

Peanut gallery: "your a complete idiot, why would you waste your money when you can get XXX memory! Your by far, too stupid to post here with the cool people and you know nothing."

Bruce: "I think I'm done here and will go elsewhere and post"

Pretty ironic statement here. Your != You're. You should learn the difference before calling someone else the "dumbest shit ever to be able to learn to read". Just saying...

Oh the irony... You read the thread, got the above out of it and are calling others dumb shits... While sporting incorrect grammer at the same time.

Do you guys suppose we could stick to the hardware and leave the personal insults out of it..?? Or, I can handle it....up to you.

Wow, both this thread and poster flamed out in glorious fashion! What a train wreck.

As someone who likes to handpick "nice" components/specs for my own build, I can see the value in sometimes buying something that may not make sense to others but is just simply something I want (the EVGA Red GTX295 comes to mind). But when I do that, I know that's what I'm doing and won't try to justify it for some other reason like it'll give me room to grow into it 2-3 YEARS from now. Most "enthusiasts" here don't buy things like that looking to maximize its potential 3 years down the line. I keep my stuff for around a year then it's on to looking for the next replacement. This is partly due to boredom on my part and the realization that technology 2-3 years down the line will typically be so much better than this now prized component.

If you start a thread like this here, expect some heat for it. And when it comes, either take it like a man or provide valid data to back your side of the argument. The name calling, references to income levels and claims of dating barely legal supermodel/porn stars were epic - some of the best I've ever seen! Then to top it off with a self imposed ban was just so fitting.

Good times!

Yeah, the name calling, income, etc stuff was not good.

Though if he could hook me up with a barely legal supermodel, I wouldnt mind. :D:cool: (dont tell the wife)

He said he was here to learn, and people gave info on the item and he just took it wrong.
