Mantle Drivers Leaked

Can't wait to see the results....my Titans are for sale for this very reason haha

They work!

Launched Star Swarm in Mantle mode on my 7870, test time

Nice. Going straight to BF4 once they're done installing.

Performance difference is looking pretty fucking huge on my system...

FPS low point was about 16-17~ ish on Mantle.
FPS low point was about 3-4~ ish on DX

The demo doesn't seem to play the exact same every time, but the difference was fucking blatant. Mantle was MUCH smoother throughout.

Rig in sig :D

Very exciting stuff. 50% increase!

Quick BF4 test, just on the test range map. Going to try a real match in a sec.

DX:

Mantle:

In a match on Zavod my minimum framerate was probably 20+ higher on average. It used to drop to like 35 sometimes on that map I think, and it was 95% of the time 60+ on Mantle when I just played. The gains in general seem pretty damn huge for me.

There's some kind of stutter though in BF4 that I was sometimes getting that wasn't under DX11... but yeah, the raw gains are there and big for me.

looks to be perfect for my config/setup. I run min graphics all the time and from the quick test I ran fps is alot more stable overall. Less weird dips.

Looks like what was expected so far, almost 100% increase on old CPU, 30% increase on high end CPU.

my game wont even work with crossfire, have to force restart my pc.
when I disable crossfire I can load into game, but then it crashes.
anyone else with crossfire here tried it?

FYI, for BF4 you have exit and relaunch for Mantle setting to take effect.

To see your fps and backend renderer type (DirectX or Mantle) enable these commands via ~ console or create text file called "user.cfg" with those commands in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\.

perfoverlay.drawfps 1
render.drawscreeninfo 1

Anyhow, not so good news for R9 270X on Opteron 6376 on Windows 8.1 Pro x64. FPS is actually lower with Mantle at 1080p ultra. With vsync enabled it seems to top out at 30 fps vs ~45 fps with DirectX.

Anyone else with R9 270X/270 or 7870 series seeing the same?

Also helps quite alot when running low graphics with powerful GPU.

All I need now is a 200+hz monitor...

crossfire 290s here -- performance is SHIT with mantle... I know others are seeing huge boosts, but I'm getting jacked here

did a clean intall (i.e. full driver wipe with AMD's utility, rebooted, installed 14.1, rebooted again)

crossfire 290's with vsync disabled I was getting maybe 55fps running around zavod311... try to run single card (disable crossfire) and my game will crash when running mantle after about 2 minutes.

Oh and I also have the HDMI audio bug popping up again (massively corrupted audio when running around) this popped up in a previous driver but was fixed, looks like it's back

Can't say I'm surprised -- I knew they were going to fuck up a ton of things that were already resolved.

Yeah, CrossFireX 290Xs here and it seems to be running worse. I am getting mid 60fps @ 2560x1440p, Ultra settings 4x MSAA (online games, not test range). It seems choppier than I remember. Gonna roll back to the 13.11 Beta 9.2 and see what performance is like to compare. It's been a while since I played BF4.

in BF4 my 290x is throttling down using Mantle. under DX it never throttled down from 1100 core clock. so it seems Mantle is working as intended. pretty cool to see but it's a shame my overclock is too aggressive. overall i'm still getting better framerate, but my gpu is throttling back from 1100 to ~930 ish in some scenarios. like 64 player conquest on Shanghai. Brent/David/Kyle this could be an interesting subject to touch on in your article.

edit: eh i'm getting throttling under DX as well. did not happen with 13.11 beta drivers.

Set the 4670K at stock to see differences. Will OC it back to 4.5 later and re run. 7970

me too man. when I first installed the drivers, I was getting horrible fps under directx just like you (as opposed to getting 150-200 fps). then I changed to mantle, restarted game, and can no longer access the game - it freezes my pc or only the game. now I cant even change it from mantle to directx.

anyone using crossfire should not install this driver - not only is mantle messed up on this, but it also screwed up directx crossfire.

addition: if I want to run Vsync and not have any screen tearing (it's minimal when things are smooth, but 14.1 is NOT smooth) anyways, with Vsync enabled not only am I getting 40fps with crossfire 290s, there is a huge audio bug in BF4 seems like any stress on teh GPU's causes audio to get super flakey.

I will more than likely roll back to 13.12 betas just because as usual, AMD drivers come out of the oven working like shit (been this way ever since I got my 290s)

So this iteration does support 7000 series cards?

The press release stated it would be more refined for GCN 2.0 cards. 5000 and up are supported by this driver, but Mantle will only be enabled for GCN 1.0 and up cards.

I gained about extra 20fps with my single 290.

1920x1200 on Ultra.

IQ looks the same, but the gameplay feels more responsive.

BF4 crashes as soon as I click Options in game, post 14.1 install.

Help?

exact same thing here, upadated to 14.1 beta, click on options and bf4 crashes to desktop.. wtf!

Did you all fully uninstall your drivers, then install 14.1 Betas? It says you have to do this in the release notes, not just upgrade on top of your previous drivers.

Help?

I went to add / remove, let the catalyst install manager nuke the old display driver. Didn't reboot cause I'm too lazy.

Installed beta. It worked.

Does Star Swarm work for you?

Yea I uninstalled the old one first to err on the side of caution. Looks like it was a good thing I did.

Guys I fixed my issue, there are already several Options Crash threads on the BF4 forums.

Fix was this, disabling my integrated GPU in device manager. Many may not have this there, but some do for Twitch streaming and Intel QuickSync GPU offload etc.. This was an oversight of the QA teams at both Dice and AMD.

Shame shame

I did not follow these directions and am doing fine. Single card, though.

i was about to post the same... disable integrated graphics in device manager, and you can get into options.... wow.. fix this AMD
