Google is removing 60 games from its Play Store for serving pornographic ads to children. These titles were infected with the AdultSwine malware, which additionally tricks users into installing fake security tools and encourages people to register for expensive premium services.

As for the ads being displayed, they come from two main sources; the first is that of the main ad providers, which forbid such illegitimate display of their ads. The second is the malicious code’s own ad library, which contains ads of an offensive nature, including pornographic ads. All these are displayed to children while playing the game that the app is masquerading as.

Just great. Why I went with Crapple's products. The closed ecosystem, while a pain in the ass sometimes, keeps things clean (for the most part). If we don't have enough crap hitting our kids in head.

This! I got my first iPhone (6s plus) when it came out 3 years ago after being with Android since the Gingerbread days. However, I recently got a HTC U11 Plus in December and was absolutely blown away with all the ads, including unsafe ads, being everywhere. I forgot how bad it was! Even top brands have ads in their products now, and half the websites you go to redirect you to some "you won a free____" crap that you need to back out of and reenter the website you were trying to go to a second time. This NEVER happened on my 6S plus, and I don't ever remember it being this bad before I switched to it either. It's such an unsafe mess for kids.

Then there's the lack of an iMessage/intergrated Facetime feature which is really disapointing still forcing users to use outdated SMS. Such a fragmented system(even without taking into account software updates), even with just Google's apps. They got Google Wallet/Android Pay (along with 3rd party apps like Samsung Pay), there's Hangouts, Allo, and Duo that the other party must download as well, then there's Pixel Launcher, and Google Now Launcher (and 1 for each manufacturer). They just need 1 unified system for each of these areas that's integrated into every phone!

EYEROLL

Apps on the Apple Store have contained malware more than once. Shit happens and someone's always going to find a way around security, whether it's Google, Apple, Microsoft, or whatever.

Except it's nowhere near the same volume. You can't even pretend that the number of issues with iOS apps are even in the same league when it comes to frequency like you have in the Google Play store. And yes, I have used both iOS and Android.

Lol Googles porn / malware / virus infested slut house named App store.

Give me a walled curated garden anyday...

Once an app gets buy the initial Apple review, a nefarious dev could change web based content easily. However, Apple will revoke your account if they catch you doing anything like this. Of course, not the end of the world but it does take a an application process and $99 to get the Apple developer account. If your app is going to cost money, you also have to supply more info like bank/routing/tax id, etc. I think this helps.
Google's developer process is not as stringent as it is for Apple. It's a little easier and faster to get your account. (Not saying they don't check you out..) . Google will ban your account as well.
It's crappy we have have developers doing this. I wonder how much revenue they generate before they get caught? It's so easy to get to porn on the internet, ads seem irrelevant to me. (But then again, what do I know)
