Making A Robot Dance For a Summer Research Project

An undergrad at Purdue University made a DDR-style dancing robot as a summer research project. This is just the first part of his project but I think it is worth a look.

I still haven't gotton over that dolphon from seaQuest DSV. I've been banned from SeaWorld.

I think the robot would be much more groovin' if he was rockin' a leisure suit

This is less then impressive, at 1.5 seconds a motion the robot won't be very good. Also some moves require both feet and doen't look like it can do that. I offer this example as a better example of both vision and robotics.

Why do I think there's a DARPA grant somewhere in this.. and some guy at DARPA rubbing his hands together and going "Yes.. gooooood, dancing.. the robot is merely learning to dance.. not navigate minefields at a running pace or climb mountainous terrain or learn HtH combat"

Not that I'm against that, just sayin

He needs to teach this robot to do the "human" (do you see what I did there?) ... and give it a weapon.
