So my niece just got a new SSD, how do I clone the old hdd to the new SSD, is there a windows clone hd that also works with mac format?

To be fair, since only one drive will be installed at a time, cloning isn't necessary.

You'd just get some sort of external dock/USB-SATA cable, connect the HDD to that, install the OS, and right in the OOBE there's an option to migrate from a hard drive. The migration tool is *very* thorough.

If your old drive is with HFS+ file format, you can use apple disk utility for cloning.

Something that I use for all sorts of cloning is clonezilla live. It's a livecd that can make images of drives or even just copy drive to drive.
