Now with Pics!
Standard 8700k/1080ti RGB build.

As I posted in the other thread, my wife bought the 8700k for $313 on Walmart- probably so I'd finally get a move-on and shut up about it.

This is a multipurpose machine: gaming/mining/Plex/Handbrake/benchmarks/streaming/HardForum browsing.

Hopefully it works out- coming from a 3770/1060 3GB.

Hmm.... which set of components...
Wife has already ordered the white/purple NZXT S340 for the set on the right

I have high hopes for this bad boy- to me, its the most important part of the build.

EVGA 1080ti SC2. Got this literally the day before everyone lost their minds regarding GPU prices.
Currently use it for mining until I built a new rig. Which is now.

Coolermaster MasterKeys Pro S- with Cherry MX Reds :hungry:
I went ten-keyless on this one- I'm an accountant for a living, so its strange not having the 10 key.

Dell monitor that just came in, hooked up to my "old" 3770/1060 3GB rig.
Lucy is excited for the additional RGB hotness to come.
The IPS is currently hooked to the miner rig beside it.
Other than the glossy screen on the IPS, there isnt much difference in colors.
But Im also not a monitor snob.
The Dell S2716DG is very nice. Got this for $399 at BestBuy- my wife saw this on sale and ordered it for me. She's awesome.

Freaking awesome! I went from an i7 3770k to 8700k and its been amazing. A beast of a system you have there! You may want to swap out the 5400RPM drive for a 7200RPM drive and go WD or HGST over Seagate. Otherwise Congratulations!

I'd personally get rid of the lame RGB fans, case, TN panel, extra 2.5" SSD and get an IPS Panel, better CPU cooler (like noctua), better RAM like Corsair Dominator, and a 7200 RPM storage drive like a WD Red out of an external drive or a Black if you have enough after buying a monitor that doesn't look like shit 15° off dead center.

But hey, ¯\_()_/¯

Asus is shitttt...why you went with that? didn't even send me a fucking new board....

Thanks for the input!
Already have an IPS monitor on another machine. I really like this Dell- I already have it.

CPU cooler is basically a placeholder for something in the future...

The Ram is supposed to have the B die Samsung- that's
the good stuff right?
Hard drive- it's just for Plex movies, basically.

I saw that thread man- didn't they end up getting you all fixed up?

I have a z270 Asus board on my miner machine- it's done me good

I think some of it is. I've thought about cutting GSKILL many times and have always passed.

IMO an ASUS board is alright. It's what I usually buy. Their RMA is horrible, fortunately I've never had to use it!

I can't stand TN panels. To me that's a lot of change to spend on something that doesn't look right. In pretty picky when it comes to imagery though. Fuck, if I could possibly get a 165hz GSYNC OLED 27-30"... But no. Won't happen :meh:

I agree on the monitor.
Basically didn't want to step up to the next level of $ until it was something truly impressive.

Thanks! I thought about the 7200, but it's going to be sitting idle most of the time, just storing Plex movies. Hopefully it's not a huge deal. I guess if it is, I'll toss a 7200 in there and use the 5400 as a backup drive

I believe you can get a 4TB red / white or of external storage for sub $100 if I remember correctly.

I dunno man, 165hz 1440p IPS is by far the best component I've bought in recent years.

I feel you- I really struggled with this one.
It was either this or go ultrawide IPS 1440p 144hz- the extra $800 was a tough sell.

I will say however, moving from a IPS 60hz to a TN 144hz Gsync was a huge improvement in gaming, with the 1060 3GB.

Can't wait to hook it up to the 1080ti and play some Arma III/Starcraft2 :ROFLMAO:

you put shitty cooler on it and I do not know why lol

Its a placeholder.

Eventually it will get upgraded with water cooling or an ugly brown air cooler.

But for now it looks cool.

Thanks for the input!
