I need suggestions on upgrading my old video card. I have an XFX Radeon HD 6770. Mobo is Asus P8H77-I with 8GB RAM, i3 2120 cpu, and Seasonic G550 psu. I am not looking to upgrade anything else at this point as I plan on building a new system this coming fall/winter. Current games are XCOM2 and the new DOOM when it comes out.
Also need to support 2 monitors, main 1920x1080 and secondary 1680x1050 in portrait mode for documents.

Budget is $100-150.

Thanks.

Take a look at eVGA b-stock cards, they have a GTX 760 for $99 or a GTX 960 for $159. GTX 950 might be another option.

It looks like the only one in stock is the 960. I like that these use less power than the AMD cards. Since this is not an urgent purchase I will keep an eye on them,

Nice card but out of price range due to rebate. One can never count on actually getting the rebate back.

AMD R7 370 or a GTX 950 are you best choices in that price range unless buying used from the forums or EBAY.

I spent a lot of time thinking about this and reading over the weekend. I decided to put off building a whole new machine until sometime next year. I scored a socket 1155 i5 3570 today cheap. This opens up what I can do with a video card upgrade. Now I wish I would have snagged that R9 280 XFX, but it is now out of stock. Oh well.

As a current AMD video card user, the best bang-for-buck right now for 1080p is a R9 290x or GTX 970, if either one is under $270. As mid-2016 approaches, there's a chance that you can get them on sale on places like Newegg soon within this month, even possibly within a 2 month period. If not, there's always eVGA b-stock (which refreshes every few days or so -- they even had a GTX 680 4GB Classified for 39.99 last week!!!!).
