Greetings,

We are looking for recommendations for Teradici-supporting PCoIP ZeroClients. We have some users that use up to 6 monitors (though I am sure most/all PCoIP ZeroClients would support that and be cakewalk over it), needs to have USB, and Audio out + Mic ports. Just wanting some input from those who have experience around ZeroClients, PCoIP, and Teradici. Thanks!

I can't answer because I have no experience, I haven't found much info on this but I always wanted to look into the technology.

Are these a viable option for a PC extender, say a powerful PC on a room and a PCoIP client on another room for movie watching or gaming? How's the latency? and framerate?

The video quality is great so watching a movie would be fine (ie: you'd be extremely hard pressed to tell the ZeroClient video apart from the raw stream). HDMI audio isn't supported though so you'd need a receiver+speakers and most ZeroClients only have stereo audio out (some were made with 5.1 HD Audio but that's not the target market for these devices). Frame sequential 3D (shutter glasses) are currently not supported.

As for gaming, there are a few ms of delay added to the video stream due to the image processing but otherwise it's pretty good. Teradici actually had a demo setup at VMWorld with a racing seat and wheel. Best time of the week on one of the Dirt3 tracks won the whole setup. I have a friend that had a PCoIP host card in his computer at home and would play Battlefield:BC2 on the ZeroClient in another room - worked pretty well (except that he sucks at the game).

As for ZeroClient recommendations ... I don't think there are any that support 6 monitors for one user but don't quote me on that. Max is 4 monitors at 1920x1200 or 2 at 2560x1600 I think. It's a pile of DDR bandwidth just to drive the monitors let alone compress/decompress the video streams. All ZeroClients have USB and audio in/out.

Are you going to be running vmware host software with ZeroClients or PCoIP blade servers? I'm posting this from a ZeroClient connected to a vmware virtual machine that has an Apex2800 offload card installed. It's actually pretty slick.

VMware ESXi v5.x in clusters around the world at 4+ DCs. 500-1000 employee count company, will be doing RDS and VDIs.

Right now I have open as tabs:
* EVGA PD05 (PD06 using TERA2 isn't out yet)
* Dell Wyse P25
* 10ZiG V9000
* Leadtek WinFast VP200 (may not support Teradici)

EDIT: Teradici's full listing of Zero Clients at http://www.teradici.com/where-to-bu...factor_id=2&vmware_ready=&keywords=&x=10&y=10

Also, Samsung NC220P is fully POE 22" AIO 1680x1050 Zero Client at http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-peripherals/monitor/cloud-display/LF22NPBHBNP/XY and their non-POE verison at http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-peripherals/monitor/cloud-display/LF22NEBHBNM/XY
