Building a P8P67 PRO with i5-2500k for a mild OC to start. Ive heard good and bad about both G.skill and corsair DDR3 1600s. Heres what im looking at buying right now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314&Tpk=F3-12800CL9D-8GBrL

Can anyone suggest an alternative that will perform the exact same but cheaper? $60 is a pretty good deal for 8gb of 1600s 1.5v just looking for any other options that will perform the same or better for cheaper. Thanks.

Get DDR3, 1333 9-9-9-24, 1.5V, from Crucial/Kingston/Corsair/Mushkin/your preferred brand; look for Micron/Hynix/Elpida chips.

(1600 won't give you any more performance, though those 1600 1.5V kits use nice Hynix chips :)

Is it that small of a performance boost to not spend like $10-$20 more to have 1600 over 1333?

You will not notice any difference between daily tasks of surfing the web, playing games, etc especially with 8gigs. I personally would still go with G.Skill 1600 though.

MAYBE 2-3% when you have a really fast SSD array (so you aren't limited by that) and a 5GHz i7 2600K. Just MAYBE. In only a couple workloads.

tl;dr: get 1333, anything faster isn't worth it, maybe just for looks (Corsair Vengeance looks nice).

There's a few articles outlining how RAM speed really doesn't make too much of a difference with Sandy Bridge. Overall, get what you can afford and have a need for. If you want higher benchmark scores, faster RAM will be better.

Hope that helps.

The XbitLabs review has overclocked results as well so that should help even further.

Any suggestions on these Team Elite 8GB ? Anyone know of any deals around that price? If im going if 1333 Id like not to pay much over $40 for 8gb. since I can get G.skill for like $55 1600 8GB.

I doubt you could really go wrong with either kit. Both probably use the same ICs and both have a lifetime warranty attached.
