Over the last few weeks I’ve been looking into buying a new monitor, primarily for gaming. I’ve been running an old 1080p display for years, but I’ve been noticing more and more how bad the colours and brightness of the screen actually are. During my research I learned 2 things:

1. I’d probably get more enjoyment out of a 1440p IPS screen than a 144hz TN screen
2. There are A LOT of monitors to choose from, and trying to pick out the one that has the best price/quality is a weeks long adventure on its own

So, I’m looking for a 1440p IPS monitor, preferably 27″ or larger and with low amounts of lag. My budget is about €900, but I’m willing to go higher if it gets me a much better monitor.

ASUS ROG PG279Q 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz

Any advice?

Do you have to have GSync? What is your system? I find GSync not critical if you can push high FPS on the games you play... possible to save some money there if so.

EDIT:

If you have to have GSync, I have that XB271HU and it is an amazing monitor, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

my system is one 4790k in 4.5 overclocked. and also i have one very old card 980 gtx but if i will buy new monitor i must by one new card 1080 ti or 2080 TI rtx but my question is will i have bottle with my 4770k and with 1080ti or 2080 ti with one monitor 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz;;; in most games;;

i mean the most games needs 6 or 8 cores;;,

also i want to ask something what is your opinion for the ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27 Inch 165Hz IPS 1440p G-Sync Gaming Monitor;;

one person who did one review for these 4 monitors said that ViewSonic XG2703-GS has less problems from the other ips monitors
this person said that The PG278Q(R) and XB271HUA both have a lot of variability in their gamma handling

The ASUS PG279Q has the worst quality control of all of them, you’re more likely to have issues with it. The Acer XB271HU sometimes has gamma issues that aren’t correctable with the OSD (so it’s a lottery with that – just like with many of the TN models). You are by no means guaranteed a perfect ViewSonic XG2730-GS or AOC AG271QG, but the odds are better than with the PG279Q and the calibration seems to be consistently good without gamma issues – unlike the XB271HU.

i dont know if you agree with all these things that he said

A GTX 980 will work, but it will be a struggle at high refresh rates. You probably want at least a 1080 Ti if your looking at 165Hz.

I think you should be fine with the CPU. 4790K at 4.5GHz is still pretty decent. Most games do not take advantage of 8 core.

Granted, it can be a bottleneck, but you should be fine provided you have a G-Sync monitor.

Definitely get G-Sync, it makes a big difference, especially if you can't reach native 144 fps locked.

what fps will i have with my . 4790K at 4.5GHz and 1080ti or 2080 ti with one monitor 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz;;; in most games;; will i have less of 60 fps;';

also if i will buy one 2080 ti will be bottle with my 4790K at 4.5GHz and with one monitor 27" WQHD 1440p IPS 165Hz;;;

because i have to buy and one monitor and one new gpu.//. i was thinking to buy one 2080 ti..

also there are 2 games assaseen origins and odysey these 2 games needs 6 and 8 cores;; i mean these 2 games will have problem with my 4790k;;

also between these 4 monitors which monitor you believe is the best deal; with less problems;;

I haven't tried any of those monitors, but I had an older Asus for a while and it was good. Out of those choices, I would pick the Asus.

There are only small differences between the custom 2080 Ti cards. Mostly the cooling solution and factory overclock. You should be fine with any, but EVGA are one of the best.

which are the positives and the negatives for these 3 gpus as quality and fans and cooler;; and overclock;

astrix 2080 rtx ti

Evga Ftw3 2080 ti
msi rtx trio 2080 ti;;;

which to buy from these 3;;

No.

Compare your CPU to the 7700k. It's exactly the same performance.

The lowest you will see is in the 80 frames per second. BUT KEEP IN MIND that those are all single-player games they've tested (to make it easier to repeat the benchmark). So the performance could drop significantly online.

You won't drop below 60fps in any online game, and you should average closer to 100fps+ in most t titles.

No complaints here about my XB271HU. I wish I had another

you said that my cpu Compare to the 7700k. It's exactly the same performance. but my questions is will i have bottle if i will buy one 2080 ti;;

there is one video that one person uses one 2080 ti with 4770k in some games and he says tha most games have bottles.. example assaseen origins goes in 40 and 50 fps with 2080 ti

i will copy the video to see and to tell me why this person has bottle with 4770k and 2080 ti in games which he tested;;

i want to see this video and to tell me your opinion please//

Those 4 monitors are all basically the same panel, part numbers won't match exactly but all from the same plant. (27" flat IPS + 144hz = 1 source)

Buy the best priced one from a vendor you can easily return it to if you get a lemon, because the #1 complaint with these since they came out is panel lottery.

Around here that usually means Microcenter during any sales because you can bring along a laptop and test it the minute you buy it. Any obvious pixel or massive BLB problems, swap it. (you don't need gsync or 144hz to spot a shitty panel)

FWIW my first PG279Q I got during BF week ($550 + tax + free blops4) for an xmas present to gift was basically perfect.

so all these 4 monitors have the same panel;;

is there something difference between theml;;
