So I have a few hundred to drop on a new monitor and I am coming from a 24" 1200P 16:10 Benq and I want to get a 27" 1440P high refresh rate G-Sync monitor (4k is $2k and I am not willing to spend that much $) and I was looking at the Acer Predator XB271HU for $600. I currently have a 1060 6GB but I only play older games (most are from last decade but I do plan on playing GTA V) so that shouldn't be a problem (I can upgrade later if needed). I do a good mix of gaming and media consumption but I have never had a high refresh or G-Sync monitor.
Are there any other 27" 1440P high refresh rate G-Sync (Freesync is out, sorry) monitors out there that I should consider? I prefer better image quality over faster response time. I have only ever owned TN panels so I don't know what panel type I should go with. I would be willing to spend less for a TN, if the image quality isn't much different as saving some $ would be nice. I will be calibrating the monitor so out of the box color isn't important and I don't do any professional work (no photo or video editing of any kind) on it so high color accuracy isn't required (but nice to have). I want a monitor that will last me a long time (~10 years, unless the 4k high refresh rate monitors come down to ~$600 sooner). I have a Microcenter in my area (so I can check out some of these in person) but will likely go online to save on tax. I would like to buy one now but I am willing to wait a few months if there are new monitors coming out this calendar year.
