Looking for a Nagios plugin

Anyone know of a plugin for a Nagios server where I could ssh into it and run some plugin to show me the state of the monitored services through the command line?
 
I have heard of creating monitoring scripts that use SSH to monitor servers and collect data, but not quite what you're looking for, sorry.
 
What OS are you running?

With most linux/unix flavours you can run the 'NRPE' daemon on the server which can run all sorts of 'custom' commands and return the status values to nagios...
