looking for a good, low-profile cpu cooler (sub 150mm)

so I have a Raidmax Hyperion case which claims 155mm clearance:

and I tried a Cooler Master Hyper T4 which claims 152.3mm height:

but it didn't fit. SO lets say my limit is 150mm.

I'm thinking of the Noctua NH-L12 because of its good reviews and noise levels.


Any other suggestion? Not too expensive, pretty quiet and that it is an air cooler are my preferences . Thanks.

While I have not tested or used it, I'm lead to believe Scythe Fuma (149mm tall) performs as good or close to the very best coolers available.

edit: cancel that justice. I misread the dimensions and its too tall... go with the fuma!

The noctua NH-D9L and NH-U9S are both excellent smaller tower coolers. Both perform about equal to each other. So it comes down to which works better for your ram/gpu/pcie.

If you are looking for a "C-type" cooler either the NH-L12 or NH-C14S are good. I have the NH-L12 on a i7-4790K and its good at stock and a mild OC but if you want better performance I'd suggest either the first two small tower coolers or the big ass nh-C14s which is still below 150mm high.
