I was wondering what do you guys think a Gateway P-6831FX laptop is worth. it has an 8800M GTS in it. I was considering buying it from a friend of mine. he wanted 550 but i talked him down to 500. Excellent condition pretty much brand new. I wanted to use it for some gaming such as world of warcraft & other MMO's and games. Im just not sure if an 8800gts @ 1440 x 900 willbe any good for semi newer games such as Medal of honor when it drops

Do you think I should try and go lower. He seems hesitant about going any lower. comes with a couple of games, carrying case, charger & a gaming mouse. I want to get a gaming laptop but im pretty much on a budgetn ow of 600 Total

nice machines but getting a little oudated. 500 would be more than I would want to pay 350 maybe. I have one of the 7811 which I paid 700 for new in a sealed box from BB approx 2 years ago. It has been a great machine. Your weak link will always be the 8800 gpu, as the cpu, and HD's are always upgradeable. I cannot remember if the 6831 were capable of 8gb's of ram , like the 7811's. There is a big following for FX series over at notebookreview.

cheers

i completely understand that myself. I wasnt looking for the laptop for newer games such as crysis 2 or anything like that. Im a big WoW and MMO Fan so I figured the notebook would do perfectly fine with WoW and maybe the new star wars MMO thats coming out soon.

I tryed to talk him down to 450 but he doesnt want to bite. me personally I dont want to pay 500 myself im thinking maybe im going to just save up some more.

I don't know if you want a core 2 duo at 1.6ghz. That's really slow.

Saving up some more for it will be wise idea. and yes $500 is too much even if it's brand new. you can get better deal online somewhere on or craig's list. but getting something on 64bit arcitech is must nowdays.
