Looking at the GTX 260/216 - any other options?

Upgrading from a 4850, but not a typical upgrade. Generally speaking, the 4850 suits me for games, however the fiancee just built a new computer, and wants the 4850 - which is cool by me.

But now I need to replace the card, and may as well get something a bit more capable, as I do OCCASIONALLY see some framerate dips. Planning to purchase tonight at Microcenter.

Options:
GTX 260/216 - $160
GTX 275 - $260 ($230 AR)
ATI 4870 1GB - $240 ($200 AR)
XFX 4870 512mb - $200 ($170 AR)

Right now, I'm definitely leaning GTX 260. Is there any merit to moving up to the GTX 275 over it? I generally game at 1600x1200 when I do.

Any thoughts, comments, etc? This is to be paired with my i7 920 at 4.5ghz. Thanks!

(I'm not a super heavy gamer, just trying to get my bang:buck ratio right, as I do some gaming)

I would never pay $200 for a 4870 1GB card. Those can be easily found for under $125. Heck, the 4890 is coming down to $150 after rebates.

If you game at 1600x1200, I think the GTX 260 would be sufficient enough for most games.

those prices seem high don;t they?

and those cards are all bordering on overkill for that resolution, imo.

The gtx 260 is an awesome card. You will be satisfied for a long time with it.

You can easily find a 4870 for less than $150 and you may even be able to find a 4890 for less than $200 which would definitely outperform the 260(216).
