I have a Macbook Air in the shop that has been crushed by a truck. Client wants the data recovered from the SSD. Only problem is, the SSD is one of the Toshiba X-Gale SSDs with a SATA 2.6 interface (full spces: [http://www.toshiba.com/taec/news/press_releases/2010/memy_10_604.jsp).

From the research I have done, it sound like Photofast from Taiwan made an SSD upgrade kit with a USB adapter that would read these, but of course, Apple squashed that. I cannot find them on eBay or anywhere else, so my question is this:

Does anyone know of another manufacturer that would make a reader or adapter for that "blade-style" SSD?

I believe the above may do the trick. Both Anand and iFixit calls it mSATA.

But presumably he will get another MacBook Air, which you could also use to perform the recovery.
(hope it's ok to post eBay links, if not then i'm terribly sorry - in any case I have nothing to do with the link.)

Interesting, though the Blade SSD from the MBA is longer than that card so there might be some clearance issues. Further digging also shows that though the interface looks like microSATA, it is not: http://blog.fosketts.net/2010/10/22/apples-unconventional-macbook-air-ssd/
