Kudos to Nutty Nathan Kirsch over at Legit Reviews for looking into this. After he go done reviewing the new Logitech PowerPlay Wireless Charging Mousepad, he had the gumption to stick his old wireless G403 Logitech mouse on it to see what might happen. And lo and behold, it charged just fine. Might save some of your guys a few bucks if you are interested in using a $100 mousepad and charger.

As you can see, the mouse is actively charging, as indicated by the percentage counter in the upper left corner. The Logitech G403 Wireless started at 58% and over the course of an hour, had raised to 65%. The PowerPlay charging system was working and the Logitech G403 was charging in wireless mode.

I wasn't even aware that the G403 had any wireless charging capability. Now I'm curious as to whether or not this would work with my G700s. Nothing like an early Saturday morning tech related rabbit hole.

Great news to hear this. I've got a G403 I picked up for $35. I was interested in the wireless charging but decided I didn't want to pay $100 for a 703. Still won't buy a PowerPlay mat at $100 but if it ever drops to say $50-70 bucks I'll definitely pick one up.

I made my own mousepad from smooth, frosted glass (kinda like the old Ice Mats, but 1/3 the cost). It takes a month or so to wear in, but then it's like playing on well... ice...

Edit: I mention this to say that while this is cool and all, and maybe it would be nice at work, I'm not giving up my current pad for this.

Not sure whether this implies it'll work with any mouse or not, but that seems like a very slow charge rate. I'm pretty sure my MX Revolution charges faster than that when roughly 1/2 charged.

Who the hell uses a wireless mouse for gaming anyway?

its so you can charge overnight, wireless charging is VERY inefficient.

I do. Maybe you should do some research as the G403 wireless is as good or better than most wired gaming mice.

Wireless mouses are heavy because they have batteries and they introduce lag and weird problems. Many G403 owners have complained about huge lag spikes. For those two reasons I will never pick a wireless mouse for gaming (or for anything else for that matter).

Here is Stewie2K playing with a G900 on LAN (http://static.hltv.org/images/galleries/8831-full/1473275391.5159.jpeg). Autimatic also plays with a G403.

You are complaining about the weight of wireless mice but the G403 is lighter than the Deathadder (90 vs 105g). I've had both and feel they perform similarly. There was a time when wireless was junk (for example I tried the first Razer Orochi and it was terrible) but technology has much improved since then. Here is a graph of the input lag comparing a Deathadder and the G403 by GamersNexus... you will see that the input latency is half that of the Deathadder.

Well I guess the wireless mice have evolved then. Can't beat the wire models for reliability though.

Agree with you there. This is why the PowerPlay mat is kind of interesting for some of us. No fun when your wireless mouse runs out of batteries and you have to plug the wire in.

I think it doesn't really matter how quickly it charges, so long as the charge is faster than the drain. In this case, it clearly is charging *while being used* so it should never ever get low on batteries...

Note: Wrote the article being linked to.

The PowerPlay charges the mouse slowly while it is in use so that the mouse never loses charge. When it is idle, the charging rate is increased. It doesn't matter if the mouse charges quickly or slowly, it isn't losing any efficiency/performance due to lower battery life. The battery also doesn't charge between 85-95% to avoid premature wear.
