I do mostly phone and data cabling, so I have a lot of tools, some you would not need, like a butt set.
I carry pretty much everything the others have listed...I like to have everything possible.
I have several plastic cases (like fishing tackle cases) that I load up with screws, anchors, plugs, bridge clips, adapters, crimp connectors, etc...I carry my tools in an electrician's pouch over my shoulder, and a large gatemouth bag for the big stuff, like my staple gun, crimpers, testers, wire...
A list of everything could take a while lol.

I could list everything that I carry in my truck, but I'll keep it to the essentials.

-Electricians Scissors
-Cable Stripper (I love my Belden 1797A)
-Wire Strippers
-Side Cutters
-Linesman Pliers
-RJ Crimp Tool (EZ-RJ Preferrably)
-110/66 Punch Down Tool
-7-in-1 Screwdriver
-Mini Screwdriver set
-Cordless Drill & Driver Kit
-Tape Measure
-Level
-Various Cable Ties
-Various Electrical Tapes

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I couldn't go to a job without at least the above, however I always have my fully stocked truck with pretty much whatever else I need.

Targus makes some sweet laptop bags. I've got an old one that I used for years and only stopped using it when I got my Asus g50v last fall and it came with a newer Targus bag.
