Good point, but it's still a mental exercise I don't mind going through. Occasionally a similar thread pops up on a synthesizer site that I visit, and it's kinda fun going back thinking about all of the different ones I either owned, built, or designed, what music I made with them, etc. etc. Same thing with these threads. I think about the games I played on the cards, which school I was in, which job I had, which LAN party I brought it to to show it off, etc. etc.

My friend and I both bought Hercules GeForce 2 GTSes at the same time. It was right before Christmas. I bought us two copies of Quake III Arena, and he bought us two copies of Unreal Tournament. An absolute blast ensued. We both brought our PCs to work one day (which was a software testing lab that had tons of capable machines.) We proceeded to start up an after-work Quake III and UT session with some of the other guys that worked there, and had a bit of a crowd around our dueling game machines. :D It was fun. That sort of thing is what I think about with each card I put on that list. :cool:

Another one was that I had just picked up ET: Quake Wars when I set up a secondary machine with the 9600 GTs in SLI. I was surprised how fast that pair was with everything cranked up. It was easily on par with whatever better card my main machine had at the time. (Might have been the GTX 260 448 or something like that.) Anyway...

How about the Bally Astrocade with Basic cartridge? We had one of those in my house. Of course I was only about 3 at the time. :D

Ouch! Just read the wiki on that. Your folks were painfully bleeding edge. Bet you had the Betamax with the multi tape loader? (wonder where that boat anchor is...)

:D They definitely were. They also had one of the first home Pong units before that. None of that was as memorable as my first C64 though in 1983. I was 5-6 years old. Got my first dose of Jumpman, and was absolutely hooked.

We didn't have Betamax, but were pretty early on the VHS thing.
