Making this a separate thread as I thought it would be an interesting topic so see what people have had in the last 15 years or so.

GPUs that I have owned in a historical order:

ATI Rage
nVidia MX440
ATI 9000 pro
ATI 9800XT
ATI X800XT PE
nVidia 680 ultra
nVidia 7800GTX
ATI X1900XTX
nVidia 8800 Ultra
nVidia 285 GTX
nVidia 480 GTX
nVidia 580 GTX
nVidia 680 GTX
nVidia 780 GTX
nVidia Titan GTX
nVidia 780 GTX Ti
Radeon 290 Crossfire
Radeon 290X
GTX 980s and GTX 970s

So I have pretty much seen it all. Was a huge ATI fan when I was a soft-more and loved Ruby by the way. Been swaying to nVidia more in the past years but still not hesitant when I see a good price to performance ratio.

MSI GTX 460

In that order of purchase since 2009. The 4870 (DoA) and 460 near the end were cheap eBay purchases to revive an old machine. The R9 270 is in my main machine. Both 970s returned due to obnoxious coil whine. Now waiting on AMD's next move.

Geforce 256 (Creative Labs Annihilator, ohhhh baby)
Geforce 2 MX
Geforce 4200ti
Geforce 6800 LE

I just had to respond to this one.

My first was on board the motherboard of a packard bell 486 SX 20 WAY back when.

Then I got a 512k video card that burnt itself out one day.

Then I got a 1 meg video card around when I upgraded to a 486 DX 66. and 6 MB of ram.

Hummm then I got a 2 meg video card. Couldn't tell you who made it. When I upgraded to a pentium 90. (hot shit at the time.)

Eventually in that same case upgraded to a Pentium II (candy bar) 300 mhz cpu and DUAL 3dfx voodoo II video cards. That's right. SLI back in the day baby!

Then a Herculese TNT 2

Then a Geforce I don't remember what one..

Then an Nvidia GTX 480 I believe. with 640 mb of ram. (still have this in an older box.)

Then a ATI 6970

Now back to Nvidia/3dfx with the GTX 970.

It has been a long weird path to get here. With some truly fabulous gaming moments.

Oh the stories I could tell!

BFG FX 5600 256mb - (Nvidia) - Purchased right after graduation in 2003 and used for SIX years!
PowerColor HD 3650 512mb - (ATI Radeon) - Ugh.
Sapphire HD 3850 512mb - (ATI Radeon) - Double ugh. Called it quits on ATI/AMD after this card because driver issues on both this and the previous card.
EVGA GTX 460 EE 1gb - (Nvidia) - Yay my first PCI-E card!
EVGA GTX 580 SC 1.5gb - (Nvidia) - The enthusiast bug starts to hit...
EVGA GTX 580 Classified Ultra 3gb - (Nvidia) - Big, hot, loud and super fun to tinker with.
EVGA GTX 460 EE SSC 1gb in SLI - (Nvidia) - First time trying SLI... Surprisingly painless and shockingly powerful.
EVGA GTX 680 SC Signature 2gb - (Nvidia) - Probably my favorite card of all time. Fast, quiet, cool and sexy looking.
EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX 3gb - (Nvidia) - My first internal exhaust card in quite some time... My 2600k temps rose a good 6-7 degrees. >.< Super fast and stable at 1200mhz though!
EVGA GTX 780ti SC 3gb - (Nvidia) - Very fast and quiet... However being unable to completely max Far Cry 3 @1080 left me wanting. The lack of a 6gb model left me unwilling to go SLI.
MSI Gaming GTX 750ti 2gb - (Nvidia) -Placeholder!

Currently waiting on a 6gb+ card to run in SLI.

Yay, one of these threads.

S3 Virge (I think)
3dfx Voodoo 2
Nvidia Riva TNT2
Nvidia Geforce 3
Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti 4600
ATI 9800 Pro
ATI x800 Pro
Nvidia 7800gt
ATI 1900xtx
Nvidia 8800gtx
ATI 5870 (4 years - had this way too long but never felt the need to upgrade, I blame consoles)
Nvidia 780gtx
AMD 290x

I've been following a rule where I upgrade if I get 4x the performance for $500 or less, which is probably less on the [H] side of things, but still allows for some wiggle room. (I'm telling myself this so I don't switch tabs to amazon and order a 980 :p)

My GPU History:
6800 GT ~ 2006
HD 4850 ~ 2009
7970. ~ 2012

With the current market it looks like my next upgrade is scheduled for 2016...

ATI All In Wonder Rage Pro 32 MB
3dFX Voodoo 2 Banshee
Geforce 4 MX 440
Geforce FX 5200Ultra
Radeon 9800 Pro
Geforce 6800 Ultra SLI
Geforce 7800 GTX SLi
Geforce 8800 GTX SLI
Geforce 9800 GTX SLi
GTX 280
Radeon 6950 Crossfire
GTX 680 SLi
GTX 980 SLi

Voodoo 3 was my first GPU upgrade. I then spent several years using gaming/desktop replacement laptops. Once I got back to desktop gaming, my GPU upgrades were as follows:
ATI 9800
GeForce 6800 GT
GeForce 8800 GTS
ATI 5870
GTX 295
GTX 580
GTX 780
GTX 970 (Impulse buy that I sold 2 days after it was delivered. I'll wait for the next round.)

I bought my cards from EVGA, MSI, XFX. Since going all in with Team Green, I've been all in with MSI.

ATI Rage Pro + Voodoo II
ATI Radeon LE unlocked to 32MB DDR with BIOS Flash
Nvidia EVGA GeForce 4 Ti 4400
Nvidia EVGA GeForce 6800 GT
ATI Radeon Sapphire 4850 Crossfire reference cards. Added Thermaltake Duo Orbs. (107c with stock single slot coolers!)
ATI Radeon HIS 4890 (later added a 2nd 4890 for crossfire)
ATI Radeon Sapphire 6970
ATI Radeon XFX R9 290 w/ BIOS flashed and unlocked to 290X Reference card, added Gelid Icy Cool.

Here are all the x86 GPUs I've owned:
The 2600XT was in a 2008 Mac Pro. I flashed a 680 and used it in the MP, when I sold the Mac Pro and built my PC, the 680 went to the PC. I sold the 680 and got a 290. I added a 290X and then replaced the 290 with a 290X. I got a CRT monitor and the 290Xs couldn't connect to it, plus I was fed up with ATi's driver issues, so I just threw the 290Xs in the trash and got a 3GB 580. I will soon be upgrading to either four 580s or one or two Titan IIs.
2600 XT
680
290
290+290X
290X+290X CrossFire
GTX 580
And soon... GTX 580 QuadSLI, Titan II, or Titan II SLI.

Matrox Mystique 220 AGP + 4MB M3D PCI accelerator
Creative Labs TNT2
Matrox G200
Voodoo3 3000
Geforce 256 SDR (a couple different versions over the years)
Geforce 256 DDR
Geforce 2 GTS and MX
Geforce 3 Ti500
Geforce 4 Ti4200 This exact card
Radeon 9700 PRO AIW
Geforce 6800GT (and 6600GT's)
2x 7800GT
8800GTS 640 and 512

2x GTX 570
Radeon 6850
