Linksys Wireless Adapter and a Microsoft Router

I have a Linksys Wireless G adapter i my new comp and its only 30ft away from my Microsoft Wireless G Router and I only get like 96 kbs even though my other comp that is wired gets 350kbs off my modem, Is there anyway to improve my signal? Does the Microsoft Wireless adapter work better?
