hey,
this is driving me nuts.
i drive to unistall, reinstall the network driver.
renew ip doesn't work...
changed different cables...
i don't know. i am out of options.

any idea?

thanks!

Are other pcs on your network able to pull an ip? Did you try assigning a static ip?

When you go on status of the network adapter (right click in network connections), does it actually say why you have limited connectivity?

thanks for the replies.
the pc along with another is connecetd to a linksys wrt54g router.
all other pc's work fine whether is be wirelss or wired.
just that one pc...it used to work before but not anymore.
i installed the drivers and no good.
i tried assinging the ip that the router gave it but no luck.

and no it doesn't show why...

help please!

thanks again.

As stupid as this may sound, try powering down the machine and wait a few minutes. I had an issue with dual onboad NICs on my Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe and I thought they BOTH failed. Got fed up with troubleshooting and just shut the computer down for the night. Woke up the next morning and turned her on again, and what do you know, they both worked again.

Otherwise, You may need to get a new NIC for your computer if you continue to have problems. It may be a hardware issue, not software or your OS.

hmmm....
do you really think its a bad hardware?
it was working fine until my computer got the blue screen of death and i had to reformat.
this is when my network didn't work...

would it be hardware?
i tried reinstalling the drivers several times too...

ahhh...

Your computer network adapeter may be screwed up by virus or spyware. Try running WinSockFix in safe mode to reset your tcp/ip.

Or if you are really too lazy like myself get a $5 nic

thanks for all the replies.
i think it is the nic.
old motherboard with a built in lan.

is gigabit nic worth it? if i have a gigabit router and others?

thanks for th replies.
out of nowhere...my connection is back!
i have no clue why it decided to come back....but its working now!

thank you all for your help.

by the way, what should happen when i ping 127.0.01?
i just want to know for future reference.

thanks again.

You should get a reply if you ping 127.0.0.1. The above poster wanted you to see if tcp/ip was actually working within windows.
