alright, I have my project, nicknamed "Compulsive" which I am building inside a Lian-Li PC-V300B that I have to use as a SFF gaming machine, and to sub as my main rig until summer when I'll be doing a new main rig

check out my project thread over at XS if you'd like to see what I've done so far: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=121391

alright... I had plans to originally use my P-D 920 Presler in the SFF, changed the plans to an E4300 Allendale, and now am considering using an Xeon 3060 in it due to the new Abit F-I90HD mATX board which will soon be available

I had planned to use a Thermalright XP-120 in there, which fits just fine, but if I put something like a Xeon 3060 Conroe in there (and OC it for sure), I'm not exactly sure that the XP-120 can handle the heatload that it would put out

I'm looking to see what heatsinks people have used in their PC-V300's so far, and any suggestions towards which one would be my best bet.

I recently found this heatsink: http://www.jab-tech.com/product.php?productid=3722

its low profile like the XP-120, but will be much closer to the PSU than the xp-120 is with the fan on it... I thought about getting that heatsink and then putting the fan to suck air through the heatsink from the underside (so fan is between HSF base and fins... would be very easy to do with some zipties)

Help me! I'm a cooling junkie and refuse to cut corners on cooling even in a SFF build

    Thanks,
    Justin

that nexus skived copper fin heatsink is nice, but I'm not sure if its going to handle the heatload of an overclocked Xeon 3060/E6600

so far I think that the Enzotech Ultra-X would be the best bet if I can make it fit... that or a thermalright SI-128... either one will fit, but the fan won't clear the PSU when mounted on top of the HSF

I could get a PSU with a 120mm fan in it instead of my PC P&C 510-SLI, and then I could use either of the heatsinks above, but I already have the PC P&C, its a amazing PSU, and I don't have the cash to spend on another PSU

I think I'll wait and worry about cooling if my XP-120 can't handle the heatload in the case

if all else fails, I'll mod it for water cooling later on... I really don't want to cut up the case externally and have an external radiator on top, but if I need to do it, I will.

I just orderd a mess of parts for my new sff computer.
I bought the exact case and motherboard you are going to be useing and basically I guess with the height in the computer its hard to get anything very tall. But steve at sffclub.com suggested the Zalman CNPS7700-CU http://www.sffclub.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66&products_id=256

Just got the thing in the mail after ordering it yesterday and it has a lower profile but is super wide, so I guess im going to have to see how it does.

i have moved the psu across to the hard drive cage (single drive in a 5.25 bay) and fitted a 120mm fan in its place.
with this setup a zalman cpns 9500 fits nicely (with plenty of height to spare).

temps for a c2duo 6300 are 40 C idle (lowest fan settings), 46 c max (medium fan settings).

of course, your cpu will be a bit more of a beast ;)
