The problem I have is the price also. I just know sometime next year a monitor just like this but with g sync or freesync or whatever.
 
AOC's U3477PQU 34 inch 3440x1440 monitor is expected to be out soon. Supposed to retail around the $699 range.
 
This monitor vs a 4k monitor.

It really is dependent on what you want to do. This monitor is badass with side by side programs and 4k is badass for over all area.

There are cons to these monitors but I'd rather have the 21:9 aspect ratio over the massive pixel beast that is 4k. This monitor is really just too expensive though.

This here! I currently have 28 inch LCD, my next one needs to be 4k at 32-36 inches! Why are these still so expensive? It would be retarded for me to replace my current 28 inch with a 27 inch at 4k!
 
28" 4K is waaayyy too small, IMO. Plus I believe most of them are TN. Bleh.

I'm waiting for something like this.
