so 500 for the monitor then? I just might bite. probably 550 and sell the ps4 for 300

Seems to have really bad bleeding problems. I'd say the PS4 is being bundled as bait.

Looks like Black Friday came early. Wonder if I should wait for a Gsync model

Very tempting but I don't really 60hz. Too much of a pain to try to sell the monitor too.

The PS4 is essentially free. This price probably matches the lowest this monitor was ever priced. This is the 3 year warranty one with advanced replacement. So the more expensive model that doesn't go on sale as much as the other 34" 1440P models.
Personally I'm waiting for the 34" Predator to drop below $850.

Yeah the monitor was panned because of bad backlight bleed. Still a good monitor aside from that. Seems like they just want to clear shelf space.

The PS4 can be used with this monitor in native 16:9 format. You'll have black bars on the side, but the image quality and colors will be very good. I've done it before.

I must admit though that this is a very unusual combo. Agree with the clearing shelves theory.

That's all that it is.

If you can get over backlight bleeding then for sure it's a deal for you. I myself don't mind a corner or a side but some of the reviews make the monitor seem like it glows from all sides/corners haha.

  • Poor quality control by LG - excessive light bleed around the corners of display
  • Not great for FPS gaming. Noticeable screen tearing (rapid movements can cause portions of your view to momentarily "fracture" as you pan). It's not unusable, but I play Counter Strike at a solid level and it definitely affects my gameplay. I haven't played anything else on it yet, but I'm sure it's totally fine for anything other than FPS.
  • Right off the bad, I noticed some pretty bad backlight bleeding. Even when the brightness was turned significantly down. I was on the fence about it but decided to keep it.
  • I know people whine and complain about backlight bleed when in reality IPS panels glow by nature. HOWEVER, this monitor exhibits waaaaay to much bleed, were talking noticeable washout in the corners even on a non black background. After much research I found this to be a very common issue.

The last review I pulled there from Newegg almost sounds like this dude here from Youtube. It's pretty bad. Also a quick search of "LG-34UM94-P backlight bleeding" on google lands you on some more folks who have the same issue.

Defective LG-34UM94-P with backlight bleed. pictures and video.

I paid $850 for just this monitor from Massdrop when it was released. With a "free" PS4 this is a pretty decent deal.

It's an OK screen, but everyone is right about the backlight bleed (it's not just glow). My example is better than the 34UM95 (same thing, different warranty) I returned, so some of it may be luck of the draw.

I think I would have been happier with something like a Swift for gaming, but I needed a monitor that easily hooked up to my Macbook and this has Thunderbolt. I do get some slight tearing in the center of the screen (rarely) that cannot be fixed by vsync (it's the monitor itself doing it). By no means a deal breaker. Also, it goes into power saving mode perfectly with my Mac, but does not do so with my PC while the PC is on (hooked up via DP). I just use a screen saver and shut my PC off when I'm not using it to avoid the issue.

A few positives about this thing: it supports some form of hardware calibration (I used an i1 Display Pro and LG's software) and has a nice picture quality.
