Lenovo Outlet, refurb 2x Xeon E5-2620 / 32Gigs ram workstation, $1270

This looks like a LOT of computer for the dollars. 32 gigs of ram, two xeon processors, and from quickly looking it up, they've got a big power supply in there, too.

The only thing that's got me not jumping on this are the processors -- the E5-2620 (v2) is fast, but not super-fantastic for single-threaded operations. Would it be super-awesome for gaming? Do dual processors even help?

On the other hand, if someone just wants to run the HECK out of loads of VMs, this is probably a fantastic system for you!

Just the processor runs $340 on pricewatch right now, so you've already got $700 of value there.

Check out some E5-2670s on ebay, they are super cheap right now. Quite more powerful than the 2620

Be careful as some are C0 or C1 steppings on Ebay.

Yep - if you need C2 stick to SR0KX. C1 was a retail stepping too and should work well (SR0H8). C2 adds VT-d virtualization and Trusted Execution Technology. I didn't so I grabbed the H8. I run even lower steppings too, but below C0 you will have compatibility problems.
